I have a little extra cash and am considering the purchase of a new rifle, or rifles. My first inclination is to buy an SKS...can beat on it with no worries. I have read a few opinions on SKS vs. AR, and the reasoning behind the purchase of either. Still undecided yet, but price is a big consideration here.

Another want is a Win style lever action .357. This one can wait though.
Yet another want is a home defense style shotgun.

    Ideas are welcomed.

I love my piece of **** Chinese SKS. I'm far too anal when it comes to my guns, but I beat that one like a red headed step child. It was throughly cleaned when I bought it used, and it hasn't been cleaned since. I would say look for a used SKS (not Yugo) for around $150. It will be money well spent on pure fun.

My brother has a chinese SKS which I borrow from time to time. I've run plenty of milsurp through it, with quite a few jams from the 30 rd clip. I've read that I can expect feed issues with milsurp ammo, and with the 30 rd clips. I'm past that though, and sure in the belief that an SKS is a good buy despite the downfalls.

I plan to attend the gun show in Kenner this June...anyone know the date?

    Thanks Tim
I plan to look at quite a few things while there. If I don't buy there, it won't be a problem, but I'll get to narrow my choices down quite a bit. Unless the right deal appears...
