Update 5-12-17 -- Called LSP HQ today and spoke with Wyndie (Office Manager according to their website). My wife's was still showing Pending Review after being accepted and paid for. Mine was still showing Pending Acceptance 2 weeks after submitting. She informed me that my wife's was awaiting results of a background check and should be released and mailed within the next week. She accepted mine while I was on the phone, informed me that I would be receiving an e-mail informing me of that, but no link to pay as it is free for Veterans. I had been led to believe that the fee for Veterans was half-price and not free, but was told that is only for Active Duty, Veterans are indeed FREE for both the 5-year and lifetime permits. I opted for the 5-year simply for the added benefit of not having to do a background check when purchasing a firearm.

Wife and I both received our renewal permits 8 weeks after submitting. FWIW, they both came with updated pics from our driver's licenses, instead of the passport style pics used on our original CHPs.

Being that you're in BR. If you get your prints done at the HQ it seems a few folks here have had like a 14 day turn around.

No garuntee. Within 90 days is the norm for the rest of the state.

6 months ago there was a backlog of nearly 12,000 applicants. They have brought in a Trooper full time to focus and said Trooper is getting it done! If you lie or fail a background you will get a rejection before the ink dries. If your mess is together you'll have it quickly.

I sent my renewal in on August 30. Got my renewal (no charge due to being a Vet) 11 days later. That, my friends, is fast. A lawyer friend sent his in on the same day I did and is still waiting for his to arrive.

Filed renewal electronically. Received permit one week later. Nice job, LSP-CHP Unit!

I submitted payment on Oct 24th online for my renewal. I didn't receive any emails after that and I'm still waiting. Did you get another email after paying online for payment confirmation?

I haven't called to check the status, but it seems like I should've gotten an approval by now.

    Thanks

ETA: I called and checked on my status. Apparently my payment was in the system but didnt go through..wth. They apologized and said I should have an approval this week.

I took the class a while back, applied and got printed at LSP 11/13 and got my approval e-mail on 11/15. Waiting on the permit, and will update then, but it has been very fast and easy so far.

My turnaround from class to permit in hand was about 8 days . Or thereabouts . I was shocked .

I remember when they used to be like 3 months.

Wife and I took the class on Saturday and I had my renewal app submitted Saturday night after we got back from dinner. So we shall see how long this one takes.

How did you do for the free deal for Vets on the app?

Notice the expiration date on your renewal permit. Mine (and others) shows an expiration date 5 years from the date of issue and not 5 years from the original expiration. Would have shorted me roughly 6 weeks, but made a simple phone call to LSP and they are reprinting with correct expiration. Very pleased with the department's processing speed and correction of the 'error'.
