I don't think he had much choice in the matter, based on his contorted body looking like he is trying with every fiber of his being to keep from being thrown out/get back into that cargo hold.

I agree 100%, he was thrown out by that handle on top of the flotation device. I almost bet that is why the muzzle is there, so he doesn't bite his handler when they reach shore.
You want to know what is really funny......... when my wife saw it on facebook, she asked me....... "who is going to pull the dog's ripcord?".............. she though they were skydiving with the dog!!!!!!

Cat you can see the water in the photo. They're probably around 30 feet above the water hovering.
This is a normal height for the most part when it comes to Water Training Exercises.
On second look, I see some white inside the hind leg, so it probably is a German. The picture is a little dark
That's the most common dog in the US Army and it looks like one, so yea that's why I guessed GSD.
