    Believe it or not, Abbott and Costello did not have a set script for this routine - it was ALWAYS slightly different each time they did it. What they had was a set of lines and responses with transitional phrases to move from one topic to the next. They judged the room and varied the set based on audience responses - sheer genius, and why most comedians call it the best routine ever.

    I showed it to my kids when they were in Boy Scouts. Two of them memorized the skit and performed it for their troop on a campout. They were a big hit because none of their buddies had ever seen the original. That was worth some big DAD points for awhile. :)
