I'm a compete dumbass on anything mechanical so forgive my ignorance but could you spray with soapy water to find the leak like a tire? If so could you just use soldering to seal the leak?

I have used a bunch of Leak Stop products in residential units, it has very good results.

You can use any soapy solution to find the leak, most likely in an external drier or the indoor coil.

With a leak rate like you describe it it a slow leak but it can be found. But it takes some know how.

Do you have the ability to add refrigerant ??

The first time when new it was a slow leak, but when refilled it has leaked down within 4 weeks The leak has become very fast and has become expensive , May be possible to add refrigerant
    Thanks

Adding gas these days is very expensive if you use a contractor. If you can do it your self it is possible to put Leak Stop in the system

Just check to see if there is an filter drier in the small line near the condensor , may even be near the indoor coil. You can buy a leak finding soap solution from an a/c supplier but with the leak you describe it should be easy to find.

Very possibly you are gonna need a professional. It will not be cheap. Is there any warranty ??
