    What would it be?

For me it would be idaho/montana. Give me 50 acres (mostly wooded) on the side of a mountain and I will be happy. Near a river or gravity fed water supply. My own firing range outside. Plenty of hunting and fishing, plus imo the most beautiful land in America.

Probably Montana -- love the scenery and the low population, but my wife is not about to move away from the grandkids (currently ~30 minutes away)!

It ain't all it cracked up to be.

Wyoming, in my opinion, has the most beautiful scenery in the US, plus the lowest population of people of any state. I'm the secluded type.

Depends on where in texas, I'd live outside of san antonio in a heart beat.

Dreaming... Alaska. I loved it when I visited last year. Weather is weather. Heat waves, blizzards, rain, ice, hurricanes or snow. You're going to deal with extremes no matter where you go. So I'm not factoring in that bit...

But a village of 300, one restaurant, one bank, etc. I'd like to give that kind of livin' a shot.
