I'm finding it very difficult to remain "friendly" with many people on my facebook (note: the only people on my fb are good (loosely held at this point) friends/family)

    This is their primary argument:

"It's just healthcare. We're not giving up any freedoms..."

Do they not see the precedent that has been set or the possible implications? Do they not see that given our current deficit, economy, and complete neglect of how they're going to pay for this super-awesome plan they are just driving American into the ground?

while i have some liberal people on my Facebook, it's not nearly as bad as my family in New York's Facebook pages... they have many liberal friends who respond (quite ignorantly) on any type of political current event

I can relate. I have a cousin in Chicago (he's a native of there AND a loyal Obamaniac) and I have absolutely REFUSED to read any of his FB posts on this matter. I just don't need the extra stress.

I actually was facing this same EXACT issue yesterday. One guy said "we will all have health care now, oh no...."

Some people are just clueless morons. When I said something about it, he accused me of giving a horseshit republican opinion, when in fact, I don't care too much about the parties nowadays. Both republican and democrat parties have not much to offer in my opinion, and there lies the problem. We need to stop worrying about political parties and start worrying about what is best for us as citizens.

What these idiot sheeple fail to understand is that no matter what the bill was that passed, it is something that is being shoved down our throats and we will be penalized if we do not follow their orders. Its called socialism people, wake the **** up.

I wish I had your discipline. I don't like seeing stupid, though.

I've been going back and forth with people on a friend's wall since all of this started. Thankfully, it has not devolved into a bunch of childish BS. Of course all they see is the idea of people that can not afford healthcare being able to get it now, but at least it is people discussing both sides. Of course neither will ever change the other's mind, but I am happy that it has remained civil. It is interesting to see their reactions and how they refuse to look at the bigger picture of the horrible precedent this is setting, as Didley said.

I'm retired and my health care left when I retired. Still, I can go to the LSU hospital and get good care if anything happens before I make 65 in 2 more years.

I think that is almost excessive burden on others still working but I did pay into that system for 40 + years before I retired.

Giving free health care to illegals and lazys who have never put into the system cannot work.

Poof...that's not even magic. Can't believe that people who like it are using their 4Th grade math skills.

As someone in health care who will feel the brunt of this I have discussed our options with my wife. One idea is cashing out selling anything I owe a note on. Doing as little as I have to to survive. This means one less physical therapist/staff and a lot less taxes. When I hear "free" I want to vomit. Because I'm the poor bastard paying for it.

Well at least your not leaving medical school this year with 250,000 dollars in debt. I literally just entered indentured servitude. The best thing about it is the majority of my classmates think it is a great thing. Boggles my mind.

Yea. It's gonna be great when you and your trash man make almost the same salary. You will make a little more of course. To pay for your malpractice insurance and education. Your class mates are in for a rude awakening. Engineering is still a safe profession. You may want to reconsider your career path.

Now they (liberals) consider health care a "right". So every one has the right to health care. No matter the cost of their bad behavior (smoking, drugs, alcohol abuse). In many states people get cash cards to buy what ever they want. Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, etc and we working people pay for it. How can this be right? If you oppose it you are racist.
