That's what I was wondering. Almost never do they face charges, they just get, at the most, paid administrative leave (vacation).

He's lucky this wasn't KENNESAW, Ga. Or, y'know, most any other town where the majority of homeowners are also gun owners.

The last "Compliance Officer" I heard about was a serial killer.

Dennis Rader was the BTK serial killer("Bind, Torture, Kill") and he was the compliance officer for a town in Kansas. Maybe this guy's the next one.
