I decided to start a new thread outside of the other Yugo pistol thread

Well, I got my hands on my very own pistol and did some tinkering. So far, things look good for a sidefolder project. The serial number location is a non-issue. The front latch will need to be lower due to the front trunnion thickness but that's no big deal. With a little thinning of the front latch, and a little spring modification, I'm pretty sure I can get it to work nicely.

they look good with the sidefolder. I wonder if the saiga 12 front latch set up would be better. It's lower but then the hook part is higher up. turbothis sells them.

    Nope. It's right.

Note this pic...the hinge sits in a cutout location on the receiver

What can I say...I'm pretty dumb. Take a brand new unfired gun and bring it down to scrap metal :D

Will do! I'm no expert and I'll have to ask favors along the way myself. I really wish I could justify owning all the tools but my other hobbies and being a single dad keep my budget pretty well scripted!

AK Builder has an extension at a fair price.

rockmup mentioned that I look for an airsoft fake suppressor but I couldn't find any.

I still need to find out if I can find a plunger, spring, and rivet for the front muzzle lock. I know I can make one but...meh.

Small update. Got the barrel extension in from akbuilder.com. Installed, I get an overall length of 18.5 inches. My welder of a boss is going to be busy for the next couple weeks so I can't start working on fitting the stock until his schedule gets freed up.

My initial plan to cross-pin the extension may get changed to place a pin through the bottom of the FSB. My only concern is the ability to see the pin through the gap between the barrel/FSB and the extension (see pic below). Would the ATF frown upon being able to see the pin even if it gets covered by welding on the extension?

Fully threaded onto barrel. The pencil mark is where I plan to drill.

I backed the extension out a bit and penciled the area that's covered by it. The other pic shows my concern of where the pin will be visible once installed.
