AR 20" upper with A2 Handguard & Birdcage, no Bolt Carrier Group and slight marking under carry handle. $300 Will also trade for handgun of equal value. Great for a light rifle.

well that was quick. Just a side note, thats not an A1 upper, A1's have a forward assist, and no shell deflector, that looks like a 604 upper with A2 handguards. what are the markings on the top of the barrel between the FSB and FH?

I couldn't tell if it had a forward assist or not, that was a question I sent

    c mp chrome bore

what about inbetween the legs of the fsb, and just in front/above the ejection port, any markings there?

I'm just curious, as I LOVE old school uppers, and a Plain Jane ole A1 configuration rifle is my favorite.
Congrats SKYWLKR, thats a nice one, now you need to find some triangle handguards for it!

    got this off highroad:

From The Black Rifle II Christopher R. Bartocci Collector Grad Publications 2004 pp 285:

    Quote:
The chrome plated chamber was adopted on May 26, 1967, and the late-style M16A1 barrel with chrome plated bore and chamber was in production by 1971 or 1972. In lieu of the earlier "CC" or "CB" prefixes, Colt began to mark their barrels (ahead of an initial proprietary "C" for Colt) and the "MP" (Magnafluxed and Proofed), with an additional "C" to indicate the that the barrel had a chrome chamber only, or "CHROME BORE" or "B" to indicate chrome bore and chamber.

under the rear site is C M no markings

    look in this spot,
    attachment.php

there should be some small, tiny markings just above and to the right of the ejection port, they may be very faint, due to an arsenal refinish at some point in time.
The CM is the forging code, that it was forged by Martin Marietta for Colt, if there is a tiny c in a square in the noted spot, it was finish machined by Colt, May possibly have a triangle with a VP in it as well.

What would be need to put the big hole upper on a commercial lower?

    Are there decent bushings now?

    Don't forget about me!

This would have the 1:12 twist correct? With the 20" and thin skin rounds they would be explosive like Stoner intended.
