My gf and I both really enjoyed gulf shores/orange beach.
We swam, walked the beach in the evening at low tide, rode go carts, went to the zoo, went to some clubs/bars, ate at nice restaruants, went on a dolphin watching tour(recommend blue water tours), etc... And it's fairly inexpensive, and really close.

The Blue Angels will put on their annual air show the Saturday after the 4th of July over Pensacola Beach, there are a few bars and restaurants right there you can walk to.

Make sure that is ALL you plan on doing. Leaving Pcola beach is nearly impossible.

Someone was talking about going to San Antonio the other day. For a couple, I really think the Riverwalk there would be a great romantic getaway, especially in the evening.

How about a cabin in the mountains? Petit Jean State Park is incredible! 120' waterfalls, cool caves, hiking trails, fishing pond, and an incredible view from the lodge. Cabins are decent and very reasonable. Not a tourist area though...

The Smokies are great this time of year. Hiking, white water rafting, and beautiful views. Start out at Lookout Mountain, then Gatlinburg, and finally the casino in Cherokee.

We just got back a few days ago from being in Austin, TX for 5 days. Awesome city, and tons to do, and most everything to do is damn near free or is free.

not sure yet but all around trip would like to stay around 2500

I really think you could go to an all inclusive couples resort in Punta Cana for that. Secrets was inexpensive, easy to travel to, really nice, and every room had a great view. You might need to drive to Atlanta to fly out, but it's a great trip.

You could also do Disney, which is fun..... but I don't know about romantic.

We have enjoyed the beautiful Destin Beaches, Cabins on the side of the Mountian in TN and even a cruise to Mexico. The cruise would be about 1k for 2 people with a mexico excursion while there for 5 days out of New Orleans to Cozumel. Very relaxing and romantic.
