Oh and the "covenant" neighbors yard is one of the places where the cat enters my yard. It's actually HIS fence on the property line that allows the cat to trespass on my property.

Some topics bring out the D-Bags. I simply posted this topic to get others opinions on what I can do to take care of this problem with the cats SO MY DOG DOES NOT CAUSE A DISTURBANCE and the idiots come out of the woodwork to degrade people. I am trying to solve the problem and doing so turns into a problem. I was told by several people about this site and these vagrants when I joined. Another forum that I frequented, this kind of stuff was not allowed . But the people held higher standards.

Well we don't hold the`high standard`of putting muzzles on people when grown men have discussions. ;)

Well not unless racial slurs and severe name calling get out of hand. We're not perfect but we try.

Where's this High Standard Forum? I'd like to visit.

All I wanna know is where did you get the bugle?

I suppose I could have laid out a better idea. Let me rephrase; I know the situation of which Pacioli referred to to be true by his comparison as another example of why the barking dog's owner loses the argument.

The story I could tell is about an ex-neighbor that bought one of those collie type sheepdogs that have that high pitched yelp, for his wife only to have to get rid of it weeks later because of the excessive night barking.

In Jefferson Parish, they put work before birthday presents! ;)

And it wasn't me that called, though I wanted to mute that dog pretty badly. I am just glad apartment dwelling chicks that work the night shift as nurses, need their beauty sleep.

What exactly is it that this other forum doesn't allow, three month old members calling their other members douchebags? Technically we don't either which is why I called you on it.

See you had me all ready for a 12 year old blowing a bugle all night story and now you've just disappointed the hell out of me.

And that would be a "Sheltie."

Man I can't count how many times I've seen scuffles and name calling including D-Bags on this site. The other site is not actually a gun forum it's a hunting/crossbow forum.

and so he tells the Land Lord what? That you let your cats run all over the neighborhood? Unrestrained? Trespassing on Private Property and Completely Free Roaming while his dog is chained and fenced in?

    :mamoru: ok pal ... ;)

    Hitman,

You keep coming back to the cats, and I agree. The cats need to be restrained. Where I used to live the leash law applied equally to both cats and dogs and it was enforced. I liked that, especially since I am not a cat person.

But, the cats are not the point here. It doesn't matter why the dog is barking, it matters that the dog is barking. By the OPs own admission he has allowed this to go on for weeks. It awakens his neighbors. That's irresponsible and inconsiderate. He cannot control the cats but he can control his dog and he needs to man-up and control his dog.

I don't get irate at ignorance. Lol.

Don't try condescension, you can't even control your dog or understand why you should.

You came in here either looking for validation because you knew you were being a jerk and wanted someone to tut-tut you and tell you its OK, or you came here to crow about creating a neighborhood nuisance. Whichever it is, when people pointed out the obvious, that you're being an inconsiderate jerk, you attacked them. Nice.

So you understand, you should control your dog. It doesn't matter why it's barking, it only matters that he's barking and waking the neighbors. You not stopping this is inconsiderate, selfish and frankly, immature.

It does matter if the ones complaining are the owners of the cats. :D

Sport dog collars?? I will check into it. I'll just ignore the ignorance and the blame game here. Anyone with half of brain can see I am trying to extinguish the problem but some are too dumb to figure that out. Like talking to a dog.

i have the same problem as the OP, except im the guy that wakes up at 3am to hear the barking dog that belongs to my neighbor... i own two dogs and a cat, the cat comes inside with me at night and the dogs have their own room thats almost as big as mine... they have full range to go outside or inside at any time of the night, but not once have they woke me up... why? because i'm a responsible dog owner and considerate of my neighbors.. the neighbor's pitbull stays chained up outside 24/7/365 and they are 100% certified white trash.. so what i do is call the police at 3am and make them bang on the door of my neighbor so they get the same treatment as me..

If I was so inconsiderate, now that the animal shelter and a state trooper friend identified that my dog is not in the wrong and pretty much nothing can be done I would just let it continue to happen. BUT, I continuing to look for solutions (being the nice guy that I am) and I will continue doing so until all parties are satisfied. If I have to have my dog stay inside I will do so when ALL avenues are exhausted. When she does bark, I will pin her in the patio. If she doesn't bark, she will be free to wonder in MY yard as she should.

doesn't sound like a friend to me.. last i heard state troopers ride the fences on public/state roads, not property lines or domestic disputes... just bring your dog inside at night, im sure it would even appreciate it..

Funny thing is... It's my choice. I'm not going to bring my dog in because of other peoples nuisance cats.

the other people's cats don't bark!

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye." Matthew 7:3-5

If barking is really such a problem the heavier shock collars will work BUT, I have had one dog at least that lived in a shock collar ...Catahoula Cur, born hard headed. The collar you have might work if you pull it tighter so the probes are tight against skin, also try wetting around poochies neck b4 you tighten the bark collar on.

It's a mess, I don't have the problem b/c my dogs free range our land and cat's ( house cats ) don't exist. I did see one a few years ago but it was stretched out in the back.

I know you can't do that in town but I'd be getting the cats a one way ticket to gone somehow.
