    Here we go again.

You know, in olden days the community rallied against the criminals that caused problems for society. Where did we go wrong? Was it removing public hangings?

I just left the library at LSU and I overheard some girl talking about how she wished they would start hanging criminals again. I was like yes.. You know what's up ma'am!

Ok now let's see. When the protest start instead of hands in the air, they will run around with their hands around their necks? :mamoru:
I can see it now: the police can't shoot, choke, taser, handcuff, pepper spray, knee to the back or use any type of physical control against criminals. I guess criminals will obey all voice commands! :eek3:

If I've read the reports correctly, the chokehold employed had previously been ruled illegal, and the medical examiner ruled this incident a homicide -- so how is there no indictment?!!!

Fox News quoted the choke hold was not illegal, but NYPD does not let their officers utilize it? Just repeating what I heard. Plus the guy had been arrested 31 times, I'm sure he knew the drill!!

I am curious if the medical examiner did a thorough autopsy. In Jefferson Parish years ago a suspect died while being restrained by several deputies. The Jefferson Parish coroner advised that the subject had died of a heart attack due to the narcotics he iggested (can't remember what type of illegal narcotics used) shortly before violently reisting arrest and being restrained. To put it bluntly "If he would have complied, he may still be alive."

Around 52 seconds, it sounds, as if an officer, says alright he is down. Later in the video the guy says I can't breathe.
In the Ferguson case, the officer fired in self defense.
In this video, the perp failed to cooperate, and had a history of bootlegging cigarettes. Failure to cooperate is illegal, so is bootlegging, but neither warrants death.

Illegal or not, and I believe it is legal just not NYPD policy, it is pretty cold to hold onto a dudes neck until he dies....

    That's a stupid comment Jed.
No one held onto his neck until he died. How about this, stop trying to kill police with their own guns and stop resisting as they try to arrest you for committing a crime. Why the hell is everyone condemning police for doing their job lately. What should the police do when the suspect tells them to "leave me alone"? Should they just leave? Or if someone takes a gun from them, should they allow themselves to be shot to avoid upsetting a particular race of people? Next time any of you need help from the police and have ever sided with the criminals in the past, try dealing with your problems on your own and leave the police out of it. This is really getting ridiculous. Suddenly anyone who is anything other than white will always be right no matter what crime they have committed.

I thought he was in a choke hold for to long and subsequently died, if not then my bad and I am certainly not condemning the cops and you could probably use a chill pill.

It wast technically a chokehold. Yes a variation of one, but a true chokehold(which is banned by nypd). The officer doesn't get his other arm up around and the guys body to lock his hands together for a true chokehold.
Also, the suspect kept saying I can't breathe, if you can talk you are not choking!

Neither of the autopsy reports say there was damage to the windpipe, there he did not die from officers force on his neck. Yes the officers force lead to his death from cardiac arrest.

Simple fact: stop resisting and start complying!

You are correct here, but one point I haven't heard any body on the news or radio discussing is what people being taken into custody say to cops ALL THE TIME to get them to stop arresting them! Yes, this is unfortunate, but this guy was being questioned for his alleged illegal activities, then being detained, and subsequently taken into custody. Regardless of your stance about freedom and liberty, or even if you believe you are being wrongfully detained; you have to comply!

I would like some of the veteran cops to chime in with some of the more ridiculous statements they have heard perps utter during takedowns, physical arrests, etc.

I would bet they hear some of the craziest **** you could imagine like: "Stop! Stop! I'm crapping/pissing myself!" "Stop! Stop! I have a heart condition!" "Stop! Stop! I have to take my kid to school!"

Cops: Sir, I need to take you into custody till we straighten this out!
    Suspect: "Leave me alone!"
Cops: "Sir, you need to put your hands behind your back!"
Suspect: "I told y'all to leave ma alone!"
    <Scuffle/takedown ensues>
    Suspect: "I can't breathe!"
Cops: "Oh! Sorry! I'll let you up!"

    Not!

I've heard people use the bathroom excuse. The ones that end up pissing themselves were at least telling the truth about that. :)
