The 13/14 shelbys do require quite an upgrade to make good power. Ford really cheaped the rods. Even just a pulley and a tune puts you in dangerous territory. Sad when a gt with blower is capable of more safer. The 07-12 models where easy to make pretty wild.

All in all, the best late model to me is the 2015+. So much better chassis all around. Plus with the vmp blower, it's wild. I am thinking about swapping the vmp tvs for a whipple though. I'll decide in the spring.

The difference from 14-15 is the same jump as from 04-05 in chassis feel. Amazing.

You can't really compare late model to early models. Completely different.

I can attest to what SVT says...older models have NOTHING but maybe the sound and classic looks but that is it. They are totally out performed in every other manner. Quicker, faster, with A/C blowing and tunes galore..hard to compare.

I wasn't addressing what it took to make "good power" (however that is quite a subjective thing), I was simply pointing out that Pulley, Intake, Throttle Body, Gears, Headers and tune wasn't "Highly Modified" (imho anyways) and doesn't take a "Life Savings" to pay for it (I totaled around $1600 at AM for parts only).

To me, good power is reliable power. And this not a gaurantee at those levels with pulley / tune 13-14 shelby. Once you pop that motor, you better have a deep wallet to get it going again.

And yes, the 11+ 5.0 has spoiled pretty much everyone on what good power is. Me included. Blower only cars can make 750-850 bhp easily (600-675 whp) and do it reliably, with good mileage and no big nasty nearly unstreetable cams (yes, that's a pot shot at LS motors lol).

I must admit that I like the 16 Camaro though. Hated the pics but now I see it in person, I like it's shape. So much better looking car than the outgoing turd. I haven't kept up with its performance but I imagine it's not stellarly better than the Mustang because my gm friends have been deafeningly quite about it. If it was handily faster, they would be making sure I knew lol

LS1TECH is calling the 16 Camaro SS the GOAT Gen lol...they are very HIGH on the 6th gen....it beats every coyote stock for stock and mod for mod (though they acknowledge, reluctantly, that not much has bee proven with boost vs boost)

Motor Trend has some nice things to say about the new Camaro too. Wanted to share a link to their 2016 Best Drivers Cars, I was really surprised the GT350R didn't take 1st place... Their pick for 1st kind of upsets me, as a "poor" car guy.

Also reading some other comments along this thread, I am happy we are in a generation where the standards for handling have improved. As little as ten years ago, muscle cars still handled like boats and required an entire aftermarket suspension correction system to be competitive. I feel that currently every manufacturer has something special with each of their products, and their competitive nature has given the consumer generations of improvements. Chevy has improved on their product each year, where as I feel Ford has reinvented/modernized the Mustang completely (for the better).

Typically, it is bad form to take the opinions of fan boys. It's why i don't get my information from places like ls1 tech or mustang6g. I will visit svt performance occasionally but even then I have my fanboy filter on high alert.

    Coming up for sale:

My vmp stage 2 tvs setup for 2015. Will fit 16 and 17. Probably got 11-14 with minor changes. Comes with everything you'll need exactly as it came to me. Full kit including the low temp cooler (stage 2 is an afco aluminum setup), pump, hoses, everything. Sct x4 handheld included but you will need a tune. My tunes most certainly won't work. Also includes vmp fuel pump booster, injectors, hats, I mean everything that came with the kit.

Kit has been on for about 8 months. And I drive like a grandpa. Ain't been abused.

    Again, you'll need a tune.

Just giving a heads up here. I'll put it for sale officially once it is off my car, hopefully mid December (waiting on my new setup to arrive now). Assuming I don't need them, I'll also throw in the modified brake aspirator tubing and evaporative vent tubing.

I'm thinking 6000$ local sale. 6500$ if I have to ship it.

Again. Just a heads up so any gear heads here can start saving pennies if you are interested.

Did you put this on SVTP? Might sell there pretty quickly.

Good luck with the new setup...can't wait to hear the #s and see some vids.

Me either. I'm hoping for 675 whp. I may throw a 13# pulley and run it up to 8k once for a glory pull and try for 700 but it should be a beast either way.

This is just a heads up for locals and friends. First shot sorta thing. When it comes off, it'll go on svtp and m6g.

My buddy is racing his GT-R against a Twin Turbo Coyote tonight!

I'll post up the video once I get a hold of it. I was planning on going to it but I think we have some family plans going on.

    GT-R won.

Mustang was ahead at the 1/8th, GT-R drove around him.

Sounds like only 1 run happened b/c the mustang said afterwards he damaged his trans on that run. I'll post the video once i get it.
