    Kennah!
Is there still any real advantages to it though?

    Not certain.
I know silencershop does one time trusts for very little money.
If I were to start buying cans today I’d also look at that option.
I really like the trust mouthpiece set up for me so no complaints here.

What about setting up a trust?

If you have other family members who would be using any NFA items, that's the way to go.
My husband and I did that so he could use the cans whenever he wanted to, and I don't have to be there, "in posession".

But be aware that anyone you put in trusts as "responsible persons", they will have to do the fingerprints, photos and responsible person form too.

What about transferring to my daughter after I'm gone? Do I need a trust for that or would it help in that regard? I don't have anyone that would be using my firearms without me there.

Yes. Humans will inevitably die and a trust allows you to easily pass on items to your children (if you have them) or another family member on the trust. There ARE ways to transfer items that were filed as individual, but those would need to be done... individually. A trust listed everything you want it to list. If you have any questions on whether or not you want a trust, contact someone like Joey Cataldie (JCCypress on the forum).

There are different rules if your daughter is still a child.

I got my trust through Joey and it was a painless experience getting it set up and he was quick to answer questions later on when I needed to remove an individual from the trust. And if you happen to be LEO or a veteran, it wouldn't hurt to mention that to him as well. (http://www.laguntrusts.com/)

So I'm considering my first suppressor purchase. Currently, it's main host would be a Stribog in 9mm, although I would also like to be able to use it on my G19 OR my 14.5" AR in 5.56 (one or the other, not both). From the little research I've done, it seems I can't get one for all three and have it be practical on them all. The Omega 36 seems to fit the bill for all 3 but I'm not looking to drop $1k right now on a suppressor, I'd like to stay around $800 or less including stamp.
So far, the ones that stand out to me are the omega 9k, obsidian 9, and the liberty centurion.
Should I consider a 45 can instead of a 9? I do not own anything larger than a 9mm currently but having that option is appealing. Is there any real disadvantages to using a 45 can for 9mm?
What are the advantages of setting up a trust these days and is it worth it?
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to ordering online from somewhere like silencershop.com?

As was mentioned, the trust is good for setting up a way to pass on any NFA items. Your profile says you are in Walker. Interstate guns in Hammond is on the SilencerShop system. I had a pretty good experience going through SilencerShop. My first purchase was through Aklys Defense in Baton Rouge. They are a SilenceShop dealer as well. I went there and entered all my info through their kiosk, including my fingerprints. For the picture, SilencerShop has an app that lets you take the picture with your phone and upload it to their system. When SilencerCo was running their buy one get one free offer, I went through Interstate Guns. I called them up and bought the Omega over the phone. They put the purchase into the SilencerShop system. I logged into SilencerShop and, because I was already in the system, all I had to do was pay for the tax stamp and SilencerShop took care of the paperwork. I signed it digitally and they sent it off. When SilencerCo finally sent the free can to Interstate Guns (after about a year), Interstate Guns put the info into SilencerShop and they took care of the paperwork the same as before. When I wanted to buy a Gemtech Mist TD, I was already in Kenny's system. I didn't have to go in and do anything. I just called him and paid for it over the phone and he took care of the paperwork. If I wanted to buy another silencer through Kenny, I should only need to call him up and I can do it over the phone. Kenny's also got a Gemtech promo going on right now where you can get a free can with the purchase of some cans. And it looks like his free cans are in stock so you won't have to wait a year (like I did with the SilencerCo promo) for the free one to come in before you can start the waiting process. And he might offer financing which could help with the budget restriction. I think he used to at some point. So I would check out www.meplatgroup.com to see what he's got. And I think he does trusts as well.

As far as the 45 can for 9mm, here's the advice I got when I decided to start this expensive foray into the suppressor game. The first three cans should be a 22 can, a 45 can, and a 30 cal can. You should be able to suppress almost anything with those 3. After that, you can start to specialize. In your case, you don't have a 45 weapon so you can cover everything you have with a 9mm can instead of a 45 can.

Nope, You still can't buy from them.....Shop elsewhere!

Several shops have them in stock, usually at slightly lower prices. And Dead Air also has licensed 3rd party manufacturers: Sons of Liberty, JMAC, Lantac, and Forward Controls Design. So you can easily shop elsewhere and get Dead Air products or Dead Air licensed products.

+2 on that list. My first buy was a 22 can, a 45 Octane and a 30 cal can. I haven't looked back since.

I just just have to add. Buy from a solid name manufacturer. I have a thunder beast 30p-1.
Best guess, 13k rounds were down it over a 6 year period.
Had probably of 5 of those 13k that let loose inside if the can that looked like a Roman candle thru the scope. Threads were getting sloppy on it so I sent it into them to see what they could do.
Thunder beast rebuilt the can and upgraded the internals at ZERO cost to me.
Since I have bought the ultra 9 and takedown 22.
As far as a precision and customer service with a .30 cal can there is nothing better than a thunder beast.

Thanks y'all, definitely cleared some things up for me. I plan to get with JC soon to take care of the trust and then go from there. Maybe by then, I will have a better idea of which can to get.
The silencershop route seems appealing, I'll likely deal with Interstate when it comes time.

I would say it wouldn't hurt to call and talk to Kenny to see what he can offer. It's a bit of a drive but it was worth it for my Mist.
