I finally got my 1911 off layaway and in my possession. Tore it down and cleaned/lubed it up good. I have alot to learn about it that's for sure. I've got ammo in hand and ordering a few more mags soon and will make range trip asap.

That's a beauty, how much did it set you back!
Well, it was on sale at LGS and it was my birthday recently which they give you an additional 15% off so it worked out to $340 so I couldn't pass that up. I also got me some Metalform mags coming and ammo since this is a new caliber to me. Funny thing is I've been shooting small caliber stuff so much lately these 45's look HUGE! lol

I do need to get better sights for it, these are rather basic. And I might try and set up another red dot sight on it too, just not sure yet.

Yes those sights suck, but can be changed out and I'm thinking about some fiber optic versions maybe, or red dot. But first gonna run some rounds thru her and see how she does. This gun does have a strange recoil spring set up. I compared the feel/fit of this gun compared to a friends brand new Springfield and mine has a better trigger and slide fit may be just a tad tighter on the Springer but hardly any real difference.

Haven't shot it and you're ready to change the sights.
If you want to sell before you start " upgrading and customizing"
let me know and I'll give you $350 so you can make a profit..;)

Well my eyes are requiring that and I knew going in I was going to change them. Of course this will be down the road before I get up the nerve to try that anyway.

At $340.00, you made a fantastic choice for your first 1911.

I don't normally preach on here but will offer the strong suggestion that you just shoot it like you stole it. Every time you THINK you want an upgrade, put that money in your safe in an envelope marked "NEXT 1911".

A dab of fingernail polish on that front sight can make a huge difference. RIA is not the best at keeping consistent specs on sight cuts, so you just may buy sights that don't fit.

I probably will try that for awhile at least, but sights would be all I think I would ever want to change.

If you bring it to a shop for the installation of new sights, just bring the slide so that you don't have to do another 4473 and waste time on another NCIC check. Either that, or check to see if the shop can install the sights while you wait instead of leaving it there.

What shop is that? Do you sell sights too?

Well made out in the heat to put a few rounds down range. Two initial thoughts on it, 1st I love this trigger, 2nd sights are off! They shoot low about 3 inches @ 10 yds which is unacceptable to me. So as I was already wanting to do I will be in the market for new sights. I had ordered 3 new Metalform mags for it also which all performed perfectly. I even found some souvenirs from the big ole 45. Happy I got this thing and hating I hadn't got one sooner.
