I finally got my 1911 off layaway and in my possession. Tore it down and cleaned/lubed it up good. I have alot to learn about it that's for sure. I've got ammo in hand and ordering a few more mags soon and will make range trip asap.
Well, it was on sale at LGS and it was my birthday recently which they give you an additional 15% off so it worked out to $340 so I couldn't pass that up. I also got me some Metalform mags coming and ammo since this is a new caliber to me. Funny thing is I've been shooting small caliber stuff so much lately these 45's look HUGE! lolThat's a beauty, how much did it set you back!
Well my eyes are requiring that and I knew going in I was going to change them. Of course this will be down the road before I get up the nerve to try that anyway.Haven't shot it and you're ready to change the sights.
If you want to sell before you start " upgrading and customizing"
let me know and I'll give you $350 so you can make a profit..
I probably will try that for awhile at least, but sights would be all I think I would ever want to change. At $340.00, you made a fantastic choice for your first 1911.
I don't normally preach on here but will offer the strong suggestion that you just shoot it like you stole it. Every time you THINK you want an upgrade, put that money in your safe in an envelope marked "NEXT 1911".
A dab of fingernail polish on that front sight can make a huge difference. RIA is not the best at keeping consistent specs on sight cuts, so you just may buy sights that don't fit.
What shop is that? Do you sell sights too?If you bring it to a shop for the installation of new sights, just bring the slide so that you don't have to do another 4473 and waste time on another NCIC check. Either that, or check to see if the shop can install the sights while you wait instead of leaving it there.
I bought my first 1911 in 1988. I have six of them now.
Even though I have several other handguns, the1911 is my favorite to shoot.
I have a feeling I may be doing the same thing, just different flavors. I think a 10mm would be nice too.
Jefferson Gun Outlet will do that for Glock pistols, and A-1 Gun and Repair can handle everything else. What shop is that? Do you sell sights too?
Went to lews a month or so ago, very nice shop and they do great work there!!!Lew's in Central is doing mine along with Cerakote
