I am sitting in my office working and all of the sudden I got the crap scared out of me. As im sitting here working ....I had my arm on my desk which is shaped like a "L" with all of the sudden I see something crawling on my arm. It was a freaking Black Widow. I knocked it off my arm and it went under the many papers I had on my desk. Very carefully I moved everything on my desk till I found it and smashed it. You want to talk about scary......looking down to see a spider is bad enough.....looking down and seeing that red hourglass on its back nearly gave me a damn heart attack. My whole body got hot and I think my blood preasure prob. went through the roof.

I dont think it bit me......hope it didnt. I have heard you dont feel a spider bite at first.

Now I have this uneasy feeling and feel like things are crawling on me.

The only solution is to burn down the office building.

I hate spiders with a passion.

Years ago, I was getting a floor jack (in a plastic case) out from under a friends toolbox in the bed of his truck. When I grabbed the handle, I felt something funny in the recess of the handle, and quickly pulled my hand away. It was a black widow web/nest/whatever, and when I disturbed it , they came scurrying out everywhere. Had the same heeby-jeeby feeling for the rest of the day, even though we killed them with fire!

I found one Saturday when I removed the cover off my barbeque grill. Had my hand in the web of it and only inches from the spider. Crawling around, it had the spread of a half dollar coin. The big part of the body was dime sized. Pretty big for a spider! And wasp spray does not kill them!! We tried that first because I didn't want to get that close to the bastard!! Had to resort to an ant/roach/spider spray that only sprayed about 2'...

    No, but fire and/or a size 14 do ;)

But it was on my 6 month old grill!! Was fixing to make a fire in it, just didn't want to make a fire ON it....

The damn thing had its web up and under all the gas control knobs, so a fire there would've caused major damage to the gas valves...or worse...

Given the only 2 acceptable means of killing spiders that I mentioned, you would have to quickly choose whether you would want a little bit of soot on your grill that would probably buff out, or some size 14 dents in it. I lose the ability to make rational decisions when spiders attack!

on a side note, I recently assembled a grill I got for Fathers day, and I vaguely recall the instructions (pfft, who reads those anyway??) mentioning spiders getting in the hoses/combustion vents if you have problems

Where there's one there's more. Also, BW's love old wood and wood piles, old garages, etc. The bigger one's are females.

I hate spiders more than anything, then roaches are next. then wasps.

I hear ya...all I could think of when I saw it was scenes from that John Goodman movie where the spiders jumped out at people...

I was barefoot, so no stomping was happening...and no incendiary devices on me at the time. Matter of fact, not even my gun because I was in my backyard...didn't have much available so luckily rational thought prevailed or else I might have spent my 3 day weekend in the ER....me and the wife tag teamed the bastard then put him in a sealed container, a WallyWorld bag, then a Glad bag, then the trash can....still check the trash can twice to make sure he didn't crawl out and set up an ambush though! Gonna have to do that until the trash goes out tomorrow night! :D
