Well Speedracer, Did you ever have any luck with the trap?
I read somewhere that you could cut a hole in a piece of plywood and drive nails around the hole and put a shiny piece of metal in the hole. When the coon grabs the metal he can't pull his hand back out for the nails and he is so stubborn that he will not let go of the metal. The nails will not hurt him, but only keep him from pulling his hand out. I haven't tried this personally, but Hell it's worth a try?

I saw, on Animal Planet Monday night, a story about a family that rented a house that ended up being infested with raccoons. Ugly, ugly, ugly.
The mother ended up in the hospital with pnemonia brought on by breathing in the dust from feces in the house. She got out of the hospital after a few days and went back home and found raccoon crap leaking from the ceiling onto the windows and the house stank so bad they wanted to puke. They called the health dept. They sent an inspector. It was the worse case he had ever seen. They moved out. Owner would not refund deposit or make the repairs.

Moral of the story: IT'S EITHER YOU OR THE COON!!! Time for 12 guage and night vision.

    Anyone else see that show?

Back when I had my Computer business, I was working on the network wiring in a law office in Monroe, LA and was up in the attic crawling along the rafters chasing cable when I came face-to-face with a HUGH pile of coon crap! I stopped, s l o w l y looked up to see if there was one above me and then broke out the MagLight and started looking around making sure I was alone! I didn't see any eyes so I relaxed... a little and went back to chasing wires.

The wiring closet was up against an outside wall where all the cables merged and was, of course, up against the eve of the roof. Not only that but a large A/C duct ran parallel to the eve with all the wiring meeting on the narrow part of the eve on the OTHER side of the A/C duct.

I worked my way up to the eve and the duct, made noise and used the MagLight to shoo away anything that might be hiding on the far, unseen side of the duct and then carefully poked my head over the duct only to come face-to-face with yet ANOTHER huge pile of coon crap RIGHT on top of where all the wires came together and went into the wiring closet! These piles were not where a coon went once or twice but mountains approximately 1½ feet across and 8 inches deep or more!

I advised my client to call an exterminator and haz-mat unit ASAP and doubled my bill for the day!

    @ paintball

As for an update there really is none. There's been no more movement in the attic, and I've only successfully caught two neighborhood cats in the trap.

I don't think it's over between me and ******* Coon, and quite frankly his absence is making me a bit nervous. I can only imagine he's recruiting and regrouping somewhere, preparing for an epic ambush.

Funny thing is she actually WAS. First time she spotted him on the roof she didn't realize he was moving in and was throwing him food (sweet delicious honey baked ham no less).

Oh heil no... not only is she having an affair she's feeding him the good ham. Time to trap the coon and your wife hoss. :eek3:

They love cat food and grapes. I mean they LOVE it. I'll toss both out and by 10PM, I'll have a freaking herd on the back porch during the mid-summer. Right now I'll only get sporadic single visitors but June/July it's on :).
