I looked through the LA game/regulations. I could not find ANYTHING that leads me to think I cannot use an AR-15 with a silencer to shoot a deer.

I am going to contact the authorities before I do this, of course, but can any of you tell me if I just missed where that is stated as not legal? I saw nothing about magazine capacity or silencers, only about time of day and .22 Centerfire or larger, and seasonal restrictions.

To my understanding, no you can not. And mag capacity is no more than 5. I do not know where it's listed in the laws so please contact the proper officials before stepping into your deer stand.

it does not say anything about mag cap that I could find. And I'm certain you can hunt with a silencer but I wouldn't use subs on deer make sure your super. Should still be much easier on the ears though.

If I'm wrong someone please tell me . I built a 300 blackout to go deer hunting with this year and was going to order a 5 rnd mag. But I looked and looked and only reg I could find was shotgun birds. And could find nothing about silencers so I'm asuming if you can legally own one you can use it ?

Again, you saw what I saw. .22 Centerfire (for rifle) or larger, and of course daylight/seasonal rules.

Nothing about magazine capacity, barrel length, minimum kinetic energy, flash-hiders, silencers, etc. etc. etc.

I would use a Barnes-X 62 or 70 grain slug at normal velocity.

I will of course contact the correct officials before doing this, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting their time because I missed something all you guys plainly read in the game/wildlife regulations that you could point me to.

Yeah not that I need a 30 rnd mag but it's nice to be able to take one that I know is reliable rather then buy a 5 round that are way over priced and most have mixed reviews. I'd still only put around 5-10 rounds in it anyways. Don't plan on shooting up the woods or anything one shot should do the trick unless zombie attack happens while I'm in the stand and don't know or something....ya never know :x:

Page 21 of the new LDWF hunting regulation booklet...

"No person shall take or kill any
game bird or wild quadruped with a
firearm fitted with any device to deaden
or silence the sound of the discharge
thereof; or fitted with an infrared
sight, laser sight or except as provided
    in R.S. 56:116 (A) (8) any
sighting device which projects a beam
of light to the target or otherwise electronically
    illuminates the target, or
    device specifically designed to
    enhance vision at night {R.S.
    56:116.1B(3)}."

There are only exceptions made for outlaw quadrupeds which does not include deer, unfortunately.

Obviously take this info for what it is worth. I would CYA and call Game and Fish in the particular state you are interested in to verify. And it would be a good idea to have a copy of the law stating it is legal with you while hunting IMO.

    Go:
    Alaska
    Arkansas
    Colorado
    Kentucky
    Maryland
    Mississippi
    Missouri
Montana (ONLY FOR VARMITS AND PREDATORS NOT BIG GAME)
    New Mexico
    Oregon
    Pennsylvania
    South Carolina
    South Dakota
    Tennessee
    Utah
    Virginia
    Wisconsin

Well fine. No silencer, but at least a Beta-C is legal, lol

You may need the Beta-C more than you think. I let my 12 year old daughter use my AR last season to kill her first deer. She is a very good shot and I was confident she would make a good hit in the vitals. The deer ran about 40' after the first shot and she dropped him with the second. The problem is there was absolutely no blood trail. The deer was going to die from the first shot, but how far would it have ran if she missed with the second? I doubt we would have found it without a blood trail. Be sure of your first shot and then keep shooting till it drops. This year she will use my 30-30. She has overcome her fear of its recoil.

I've been told a couple times that mag capacity at Pearl River is 10. Can anyone verify or deny this? I bought two steel 10 rounders and used em last year, but their not as comfortable as a pmag.
