I bought a Sig 516 three or so years ago and paid about $1500. They're more now. With the assistance of a Dremel Drill I put a Timney trigger in it. I can shoot about 1.5 MOA at 100 yards off a bipod. It's not nearly as accurate as my bolt action rifles. I've also built three ARs. They all...
I don't think anyone ever said Savage or Stevens or any of the ammo brands are losing money. Maybe they are, I don't know. For public corporations, it is not enough to be profitable. You must be able to GROW earnings, or your stock will be dumped by mutual funds and other stakeholders. It...
This is a link to a great article about firearm ownership here and around the world.
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-06-22/americans-now-own-40-worlds-one-billion-guns
Takeaways:
1-There are about a billion firearms worldwide, including government and civilian held.
2-40% are in the...
That wasn't in the report. But I will say that some of those probably have since died, let their permit lapse, or moved away, probably to Prairieville.
According to the Louisiana State Police, since the CHP program began in 1996, the Parish with the greatest number of residents who have been issued original permits is East Baton Rouge, with 12,493 permits through 2017. The zip code with the highest number is 70769 - Prairieville - with 1875...
The experiences you guys shared reinforce my long held opinion that just because someone has a CHP does not make them worthy of any other special rights, such as SB178 which will allow a CHP holder to carry to the edge of a school campus.
For the live fire portion of the CHP class the law requires firing 12 rounds each at 6, 10, and 15 feet at a silhouette target with ZERO misses on the silhouette. There have been almost 140,000 original permits issued since the program began in 1996. Imagine someone paying a hundred-and-some...
Several days ago in this thread, I said I did not think meeting Louisiana's CHP requirements were sufficient for an adult who totes a handgun in a school as a security officer. I don't recall anyone hammering me for that, and I thank you. Here is a link to an article that documents the FBI's...
Austin, thank you for taking the time to post this. I've contacted my elected officials numerous times on firearms issues. Trust me, I harbor the same unyielding attitude regarding the Constitution and its amendments as all of you.
I did became uneasy reading the sample letter, though...
It does well for its price. At 25x, I can't tell the difference from my Swarovski Z5. Its biggest shortcoming is the parallax (focusing knob on left) is much too coarse. That is, at higher powers it's tough to precisely focus, but you eventually manage. I also noticed I had to move my eye...
I don't think you'll find a system for that price that you'll ultimately be happy with. Do you want true high definition, aka 1080p aka 1920x1080? Will your NVR have the bandwidth to simultaneously record eight high-def cameras? A decent high-def camera will start at about $200 each. I have...
I appreciate the comments of those who responded.
The take away is this: You don't want to be in a situation where you must produce your CHP card for law enforcement, but the card shows it's expired. So don't let it expire. Get 'er done in advance.
Interesting. Here's a copy-and-paste from the LSP website:
You must submit your application within 60 days of the expiration date or you will be required to submit a new original application.
Does that mean within 60 days BEFORE it expires or AFTER it expires?
My CHP permit expires on 10-8-2015. Since you must submit your renewal paperwork no later than 60 days before expiration (otherwise your application must be for a new permit) I took the renewal course on June 27. I hand carried my renewal paperwork and money order to the State Police...
