We were on a 12-day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in the southern Rockies in June. Our coldest night was 40 degrees. I use the foam pad in combination with an ultra-light air mattress. There are a lot of dry camps. Some days, you need enough water for the day, the night, and half of the next...
I'm a long-time Scout leader with a Troop in Baton Rouge. Alps Mountaineering brand supports Scouting. Their gear is dang near almost as good as Osprey... checks in around $250 for a full-size trek pack vs Osprey's $350. However, if you go through www.hikerdirect.com, you can register as a...
Looking for a .22lr pump action rifle. I'd love to get my hands on something old, but let's see what you've got! I have cash and will meet anywhere within 45min of Baton Rouge.
I own both. The Marlin is the more accurate rifle out the box, hands down. It's also more fun to shoot, imo. Just a good little rifle.
The only real issue is slower reload time, but you can fix that with the plastic speedloader, or just DIY with composite arrows and pencil erasers.
Looking for either an H&R -or- NEF handi-rifle (single shot) chambered in .223/5.56. Show me what you got and what you want for it. Cash in-hand.

I dunno, it seemed like a perfectly reasonable question to me. As much as I can't stand LEO-bashers, the other end of the spectrum is just as annoying. Back the blue, but no need to wear blue panties that bunch up too easily, bro.
I will eventually, but currently have many irons in the fire including wifey's permit. I'm just fine with it under the seat and the occasional OC for now. Mainly, I want to carry my (soon-to-be) new Ruger 10/22 Takedown in my pack while I'm out on a multi-day trek. More for 4-legged and...
It was actually a serious question lol. I have no CHP, but want to carry a trail gun in my pack. I know a pistol isn't legal, but what about a takedown rifle?
I would be very careful about that just after deer season and all. Dot your i's and cross your t's, definitely give that specific WMA a call first: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/36994. You'll need a basic and big game license, plus WMA stamp. Have to be careful about caliber restrictions...
OK, new angle... what about backpacking in Kisatchie? Would it be better to have a takedown rifle than a pistol (since I have no CHP) stuffed inside my pack? Guess if I'm hiking on a WMA, then I have to keep hunting regulations in mind as well. Damn, this **** is complicated!
There used to be a place just off the west side of Greenwell Springs Road, between Wax and Hooper. Haven't been in like 15 years, tho. Edit: Think this is it: https://www.infosports.com/paintball/595.shtml
I'm not a big fan of the ready-made freeze dried stuff. I go backpacking with my sons' Scout Troop. We're currently gearing up for a Philmont trek in June 2018, in fact. Breakfast is usually instant cocoa/coffee with instant oatmeal (oatmeal condiments: individual honey/jelly packets...
I received a Skinner barrel (dovetail) mount peep sight for Christmas, along with the HiViz Henry rifle sight, for my Henry H001. Guys, I couldn't be happier with these sights!!! My sight picture is SO much better now and I'm on target faster. My groups are tighter than ever, to boot! Most...
Meh, he's a big boy... pretty sure he can handle pointing and squeezing lol. It comes down to a personal choice is all. I prefer the 1911 if I'm shooting .45, just because I love them.
I don't know, then you limit the scope of your audience. I would say just keep your personal info out of the post, force the noobs to create an account to PM you.
