Probably, Dave...a glaring example of how safe gun-free zones make us...
Funny (well not really)...this video made me cringe. I was in a situation similar to this a few months ago, when I was held at gunpoint by a lunatic with a rifle. I remember that man's reaction very well --...
Interestingly enough....in Texas you actually CAN shoot to defend your property. I have a friend who had hunting property near Dallas who drove up on thieves stealing stuff from his shed. He unloaded on them with his pistol. One was shot, no one killed, but police cleared him, no charges...
Good one...I swore that video clip was going to end with the dude shooting himself or the camera...
I had to check again....hadnt noticed the shower curtain the first time... What better place for a stoner to do a video about gun safety? If someone gets shot, it's an easy place to clean...
Thanks aard...
I shot a friend's 10mm, and actually I like the way it shoots. Of course, as far as handguns go and general recreational shooting, I only shoot fullsize guns anyway. Diving into the more concealable gun market is something I never really took seriously before now....
.357 magnum - S&W 686
.44 magnum - Ruger Super Redhawk
Deafdave:
I have a Marlin 1894 in .44 magnum. I believe Winchester still makes one too...both are lever action, tube magazine...your dad probably had one of those. It is sweet...the easiest way to shoot that monster pistol round!!!
I have a G21 (fullsize .45). I like the feel of fullsize handguns better, too...but I dont carry yet and wouldnt carry any of them. I also have an XD9 tactical -- it does have a slightly more comfortable grip, IMO, but I've been a big-bore kool-aid drinker since the first time I shot my...
I've heard a lot about the SP series...in particular the SP101 for CCW if going the revolver route. I like .357 magnum a lot...and of course it's easy to train with .38 spl or lighter loaded magnum rounds.
I thank all of you for your well wishes and advice so far. Your opinions have been greatly appreciated...
To get back to one part of my original post, however... I plan to take CCW training of course and any additional tactical training that's available for me. I know a carry gun is often a...
It's ridiculous, the JP Sheriff's office was stopped in delivering restraining orders/peace bonds (privacy laws, they claimed). They can't be served until he's released!!!! I dont know how long it will be but he will be released sooner than later...
Posse: I had called the DA's office...
I'm getting ready to apply for my CCW, so this is new to me... I havent even yet decided on my carry gun yet, but I have given this thought as well.
I have to concur with everyone on this thread who has said you need to be ready, and comfortable enough with the weapon to NOT worry about a...
Duck/Spanky: I havent re-contacted the DA directly, but since he was brought in on a mental disability (danger to himself/others) he was brought to the hospital, not jail. When I learned he could possibly walk in 72 hrs or so, I contacted the police to press charges and they told me because of...
Thanks NOLACOP, and all for your comments so far... I agree 100%.
Actually, yes...this was a push for sure, and to answer that question I can only say this: My 'plan' when I realized I had won the fight over the rifle and it hadnt shot anyone yet, was to get back and train it on him in...
Had the worst experience of my life last week. For years I've been a gun owner, and enjoyed shooting, but never really looked into concealed carry. My life changed last week when me, along with my mother in law and wife, were held at gunpoint by of all people, my father in law. He had been...
.45ACP has been my favorite handgun caliber --amateur opinion, I dont shoot competition, but it just feels good, and of course has great downrange energy for the kill. I'm not a carry expert, but I like the 1911 model for general accuracy and overall reliability of the browning design. I have...
Most regretted sales (all for money/replacement guns):
1. Springfield M1A
2. Remington ADL 700 in .223, w/12x Leupold scope
3. Glock 22 (.40 S&W)
I only sold one other gun, a Marlin 30-30, but I dont regret that one.
To make amends for, I vowed never to sell another gun, I bought another...
Thanks...I havent shot my XD yet, hopefully will do so next weekend....I owed my wife painting the house..:(. .45ACP is my favorite semiauto round to load and shoot...I have a Colt 1991A1 and Glock 21, but this was my choice for my first 9mm.... I dont do matches/NRA shoots, etc...not familiar...
Hi, name's Mark...
I shoot mostly handgun, and reload, though I dont do either NEARLY as much as I used to years ago, and would LOVE to get at it more regularly again....
My gun collection is small (in comparison to most):
Long guns:
Marlin 1894 (.44 magnum)
Mossberg 500 12 ga...
Hi Chase....
Welcome from another newbie!!!
I had a M1A years ago...when I first started and was doing more rifle shooting/reloading. Sold it later when I took a bigger interest in handguns. (I'm not inclined to sell anymore...that gun is one of my regrets!! Duh!!!). I just got an XD...
