I have a MEC Grabber (progressive) in 28ga that I would sell reasonably, and I have a 20ga MEC Sizemaster I will also let go reasonably. I am in Prairieville, and will send you a PM.
I met Steve a few years ago but knew of him before ever doing so. He did not disappoint in person when we did meet. He visited La Gun & Reloading occasionally in the months and weeks following his diagnosis and surgeries.
He maintained his personality and wit despite the knowledge of his...
Its pretty hard to stuff 8 bays stringing out over 200 yards into one picture. Maybe a description will help. Most are 25 yds wide, 25 yards deep with 12' berms. Plenty of room outside the bays. Come take a look.

I'm hooked on sporting clays too, and after spending a bunch more than I'd like to admit on sporting guns, here is my advice. Be realistic. Sub 1k quality over/unders are super rare. The Turkish guns are too light (hunting guns) or swing like a fence post (very poor balance). They are...

As others have said, no problem with the short cases. Just load and shoot and don't worry about it. There is a lot of 223 or 556 brass out there and all of it isn't great. What brand is on the case head?

Bryan is correct. Before fancy shims and shell holders came along, folks just loosened the lock ring and turned the die down a little at a time. It still works just fine in a Forster or RCBS.
Re-reading your post, I don't see any mention of using a bump gage or a headspace gage. You must...
The 'gashes' shown in the picture above (post #6) are classic ejector swipes. It could be a sign of high pressure, but just as likely soft brass or a rough bolt face/ejector. Under pressure brass flows into the hole occupied by the spring loaded ejector button. When the bolt unlocks and...
