Finally got my stamp and my SRT Shadow XL TI. J. Allen is telling me that my stock will ship at the end of the week ... although I'm skeptical. One more picture when I drop her in the stock.
My new bolt gun. Currently on the short list (about 2 months left) to get a J. Allen stock. I'll definitely re-post better pics when it gets in, because she'll be beautiful.
"Big Army" may have never issued them, but that doesn't mean commanders and units haven't been buying them for their troops. I'm staring at three big Magpul boxes full of Pmags as I type this in Afghailand. Trust me, they'll be issued out and used for the remainder of this deployment.
I used some deployment cash from my last deployment to buy a 16S last year. At the time I didn't own an AR-15 of my own, and didn't want a Saturday range day to feel like I was qualifying at work. I've got about 3,000 rounds through it, and have had zero problems. Only complaint I ever had...
Anyone ever fire suppressed at the range in Bodcau? As long as I've been going there I've never seen anyone have problems with anything they've brought so long as they were being safe. Just thought I'd throw this out to the masses.
Awesome, guys. Thanks for the reassurance. Now I don't have to spend the next 6 months with a voice in the back of my head saying the can isn't going to fit without some work. It sounds like a few cans may have problems on the rifle, and naturally since it's the internet that's what gets...
Ritten pretty much hit the nail on the head. What sold me on it was the 1/10 twist. A prethreaded barrel was just icing on the cake. Best case (and most likely) scenerio is that the cut in the can is enough to fit over the shoulder on the barrel. I've only heard of a few examples of...
I shot a message to Doug at SRT with a picture I found of the end of the barrel. He got back to me really quick and said:
"Our suppressors have a counterbore that should accommodate that radius, unless it is a real large radius."
Here's a picture of the end of the barrel...
It's a standard 5/8-24 pitch. Everything I've seen says it has to do with the length of the shoulder on the barrel and not the actual thread. I think I'm just going to have to wait and see how things line up.
I'm in the process of building a new rifle as my post-deployment present to myself. I've ordered a Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD and am submitting paperwork for an SRT Shadow XL TI (LandrysGuns is hooking me up from halfway around the world).
I read in another forum that putting a...
SOGA Twitch XL. No pictures because I'm on a work computer. (http://sogknives.com/store/TWI-21.html)
I love this knife. It's served we well for about 3 years now. The DFAC silverware sucks here, so it's most common use over the last 6 months has been cutting dinner.
Heh, roger that. I guess I'm throwing the same name in the hat. Either way, great service ... a couple E-mails back and forth and I had the trust in hand.
Why is it that a cheap pair of sunglasses will last me 5 years, but within 6 months I'm sure to scratch the crap out of a good pair?
That said, if you're LE or military and you're not using www.usstandardissue.com you're wrong.
Just throwing another name in the hat, but Terrence Knister took care of mine for me. Even though I was in Afghanistan he responded quickly and took care of me. I haven't submitted my paperwork, but I don't foresee any problems. Here's his signature block:

I keep an EoTech 553 on my FNH SCAR 16S back home. It's been incredible, but in the back of my mind I've often wondered if I should've gotten a clone instead. However, when it came time to deploy again I decided to go with an optic I was intimently familiar with and bring my own EoTech. I...
