I had a Georgia CCW for decades and renewal process was much easier. Louisiana makes it much harder and costs much more. Also having to live here more than 15 years to qualify as a resident is ridiculous. I'm a legal LA resident in every other respect except for CCW.
I just found about 30 rounds of old .357 Magnum JHP ammo that's corroded. I tried to disassemble the rounds using a Quinetics bullet puller, but the bullets won't come out of the brass. I kept banging on one round until the lead actually came out of its jacket, but the jacket stayed in the...
The NRA's Gang of Four is being sued as well: Vice President Wayne LaPierre, General Counsel and Secretary John Frazer, former Chief Financial Officer Wilson "Woody" Phillips and former Chief of Staff and Executive Director of General Operations Josh Powell.
In a separate lawsuit, the NRA...
I'd like to buy an AR-10 so I can shoot 7.64x39mm and 6.5 Creedmoor. Besides barrel, bolt and magazines, what other parts do I need to shoot 5.56mm in the AR-10?
First Oliver North was kicked out as NRA's President. Now Chris Cox and his top assistant have been suspended. As a member-supported organization, NRA needs to be transparent so that we know our dues and donations are being properly spent. But it seems as if Wayne LaPierre wants to keep that...
I just finished reading a great book "Long Shot" by Azad Cudi. He was a Kurdish sniper who fought against ISIS when they invaded his homeland. He describes the war in the streets against ISIS in northern Syria (historic Kurdistan). The book also has lots of great info about the Kurdish people...
I stand by what I said: 500+ yard shots are not fair chase. And that's not just my opinion; here's the Boone & Crockett Club statement on fair chase:
THE PRINCIPLES OF FAIR CHASE
FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking...
Definitely study and get your Technician license. But while you're doing that, buy a CB radio/antenna. You can start chatting right away. No license needed.
BUT, don't let the wife and kids be nearby while you're on CB. There's some "colorful" language used by some CBers.
I got my concealed carry permit in 1978 and joined the NRA that same year. Even back then, open carrying a pistol/revolver turned heads.
40 years later, after all we (Americans) have experienced, there's only one word for a person who openly carries a rifle and a pistol in any major city...
Hunting season is fast approaching, so it's time again to talk about long-range hunting vs shooting. Back in 2009 when this thread first started, nobody mentioned "fair chase."
Long cross-canyon shots on sheep or goats require stalking and skilled shooting, AND those animals can see hunters a...
I lived in Georgia for 40+ years before moving to Louisiana in 2017. Georgia has many public areas to hunt - WMAs, Wildlife Refuges and National Forests - but they are packed full on weekends. The only way to get a decent hunt on public lands is to go on Tuesdays thru Thursdays, when most other...

I shop often at WalMart in Baton Rouge and Denham Springs, and I've seen several guys open carrying. I've been thinking about doing it myself, especially since getting a concealed carry permit would cost almost $300 (including training class). I'm living on Social Security, so that's way too...
Georgia-based firearms trainer Claude Werner has just published his new ebook Concealed Carry Skills and Drills. While not as well-known as Jeff Cooper or Massad Ayoob, Claude is an Army veteran and has been a successful trainer for decades. He has also been active in IDPA and USPSA.
