      1911 coating suggestions

      I’ve tried everything. For the money, Cerakote is probably the best for wear + looks. You can go to the Cerakote website and look at lots of colors on lots of guns. Parkerizing is second on my list, and fairly easy to accomplish at home if you’re handy and have access to sandblast equipment.

      Best way to remove heavy rust?

      Get some stainless steel pot scrubbers from wal mart, it'll remove the chunks with little to no damage to the rest of the finish. From there you can either 1) Boil the parts to convert the remaining rust. or 2)soak in Evap-o-rust for a day or so. I prefer the Evap-o-rust if i'm going to...
