Every data source I look at calls for more powder than the case will hold, roughly 27 - 28 g. Is this a compression load or am I doing something wrong? The case will hold about 17 g.

    Thanks.

Is possible but what powder and bullet weight are you using?

100 grain class bullets easily. Some 120 grain class depending on powder.

I charge a little less in my 130's

idk man the only powder i know that can fill up a full case like that at 17grn is trail boss powder.. any other stick or ball powder can easily get 25+grns in it

spot check your scales with the bullet? bullet weighs right on both scales? what powder are you using?

i dont reload that caliber but everything i see is 21.1gr or more

I'm using 129g Hornady and several different powders. Loading to mfr specs but with any of them powder is coming out of the case at 17.1g. Powders 748, CFE 223, Vectan Ba7 1/2.

I checked the bullet weight and they both agree 129.

I’m using over 26 grs with 129gr Nosler ablr. Something is wrong here. If your scale is correct and only 17gr fits, there is a brass issue…not to be a smart ass, but are you sure it’s Grendel brass?

The answer to this is twofold.

    1. I noticed that the brass was not all the same. They both had 6.5 grendel stamps and they were the same case length but they weren't the same. They both had the same powder issue though.

    2. I thought I was loading 748 but I wasn't. Lets just say I'm glad I double check and triple check and spot check throughout the run. Getting blowed up doesn't sound like all that much fun.

Many thanks to everyone for help on this.
