Fairly new to CENLA and gave up on gun shows years ago. BUT, I'm thinking about checking this one out on Sunday just for something to do after church. Anybody been? Opinions? (looking for a couple of revolvers)

20 years ago it was extremely weak, like I could have charged the same admission and have people come over to the house and watch me open my safe kind of weak. I went once again about 10 years ago and it had rebounded quite a bit. I was actually gonna try to make this one but my in-laws are coming over Sunday after church for a late lunch, I’m gonna cook a prime brisket all night long.

If you make I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts.

I went close to a year ago I think. It was fair. Good for first day in quick sweep. I enjoyed myself. Freedom Brothers Armory usually goes to every show they got a decent crop of ammo and rifles.

It has been a minute since I've been to the Alexandria show. I'm more of a regular at the shows in Lafayette, Gonzales, and Kenner.

My recollection is that many of the same sellers from those other shows frequent Alexandria—so if you regularly do the circuit, you'll see some of the same stuff.

I generally find something at each of the shows I go to, and it's usually not what I had set out to find. At the last Alexandria show I found a nice Inglis HiPower pistol that was made in Canada during WW2. I think I gave $800 for it; all things considered it was a decent deal and I've still got it (and could probably make a healthy profit now). At the last local show I was at (in Gonzales last month) I turned up a nice 1959 vintage square butt S&W Chiefs Special with a 3" barrel that shipped to a dealer in Baton Rouge. The gun has a lot of wear, but at $350 it was a no-brainer, especially given that it still had the factory walnut grips.

Southern Louisiana can be a target-rich environment for gun collectors; a lot of it is just right-place-right-time.

So, my advice is always to go with an open mind and lurk around for the bargains. They're there.

Went and browsed a bit. Not bad. A LOT of AR's and knives (mostly imported damascus from what I could tell, but decent quality). Some jewelry, fishing tackle, etc.. A lot of long guns. But quite a number of handguns and a few decent used ones but a good bit over their value, IMO.
Happened on a nice preowned but mint Hubertus(?) auto and picked it up.
Worth the price of admission (free to LE) and a nice facility. I'll go again.
