Browning Sweet 16 prices ???

i see a wide range of prices on older 50s and 60s Browning Sweet Sixteens in varying conditions. what make some worth more than others ? not including condition. i see some in worse condition, but around the same age selling for more than the cleaner ones.

not a shotgun guy so it is very confusing.

i will be posting one for sale but have no idea its worth.

i will date with the serial and take pics for the sale, but is there something else on the gun that i should look for, that will determine its worth ?

Some of the A5 16 ga shotguns were built on the 12ga frame. Others were built on a smaller, lighter frame.
The 'Sweet 16's' are the ones built on the smaller frame, and are more valuable than the ones built on the 12ga frame.

Look at the frame size.

They are nice and considered The gentleman's shotgun so that leaves a bunch of us out.
What hurts the price is ammo or the lack of.
If you reload it's okay.
Mostly a collector's firearm nowadays

thanks so much for the info, i will post a pic and date of manufacture, on this thread, hopefully DBMJR1 or someone else can tell the difference in frame size, this is the only hunting shotgun i now own,(inherited it from my dad). I don't hunt or even look at this type of firearm at Gunshows.

To confuse matters more, I think some were built on a third, 20ga frame.

I have one build on the 12ga frame. I still shoot it, often. They point naturally and are gentle to shoot.
A cheap Lee press keeps me in ammo.

Does yours say, 'Sweet Sixteen' on the frame ?

pics in original post, dimensions 47" OAL, 27"barrel end to receiver, 6 7/8"reciever to shoulder stock, 2 1/2" receiver width over bolt measured.

just ask for more pics or measurements.

just watched a youtube video and date code is 1953 and 3 digits
