Camping near Slidell

I just moved to the Slidell area and just wondering where I can go camping/hiking? Thankyou

Hiking I guess you can go to http://www.wlf.state.la.us/hunting/wmas/wmas/list.cfm?wmaid=35 I'd wait till after deer deason though.

Camping try http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/ifontaine.aspx or a little further down the road http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/ifairview.aspx

Buccaneer State park in Mississippi was a good one but it hasn't re-opened since Katrina.

Bill's shop (Bullet & Blade) is at the back of the shopping center/strip mall behind O'Henry's on Gause Blvd. Afternoon (4:30pm-9) MTWF, 10-5 Sat.

Drive up to Black Creek area. Take I59 up to hwy 26, then over to MS 49, look for the Brooklyn exit. There's several primitive areas along Black Creek, plus a 50 mile trail (of which only 10 is open now) for backpacking.
If you want something more organized (ie state park) try Flint Creek near Wiggins, MS.
