We live in Louisiana, so I'm not all that concerned about protein but veggies are another story. I started hunting around for heirloom seeds. The theory I have with heirloom seeds is that some of these seeds have been around for decades so they're probably pretty hardy. We'll test that theory this spring.
It's my maternal version of survival, we're starting a garden this year but I plan on purchasing one of these to put away.

But I figure I could skip the packages, order what I know will grow plentiful here and seal them with silica gel packets once they arrive. I seem to remember my grandmother (who lived through the Depression) had a big ass garden for this exact reason and stored her seeds in the freezer for even longer durations.
