Y'all need to know that as of the 1st of June 2022 there are some major changes in the pricing of lifetime licenses in Louisiana regarding cost and issuance.
I address here the issue of lifetime licenses. Before June 1, 2022 you can get a lifetime hunting/fishing license for your infant/toddler UNDER 5 years old for a mere pittance of $200. From 5-13 it only costs $300. Thereafter it goes to $500. For those over 60 it is still only $50 but that might also go up.
As of June 1st 2022 if it's breathing and under 60 it's gonna cost $500. Get it now while the price is good

Should be called a Hunting and Fishing tax to pay for more "Wildlife" agents to harrass you while you are hunting and fishing. Kids have to have licenses now too. $5 dollars per kid.

Thanks for the heads up. I was holding off because the older price structure allowed you to delay buying for kids until a later age as historically you could invest that money at birth and come out ahead by waiting to buy at the 13yr mark for $300. With it increasing to $500 now you could still likely invest $200 at birth and have more than $500 at 16. But then you have to worry about price increasing again by then. Another benefit of buying now is avoiding the inconvenience of having to buy the new $5 license for kids every year. Most of the time it's a 30 minute wait at Academy or Walmart for a license and if you do it online it still takes some time and they usually charge a $2-$3 processing fee.

From what I understand the $5 is only required for youth hunting deer/turkey and is being used to accurately count them because the state receives $35 federal dollars for each youth and there has to be a means to track this. This would net an additional $30 per youth for our state that hopefully will not be squandered like most funds.

The best we can hope for is that it is used to improve the quality of hunting habitat and purchase more land for public use of which our youth will benefit in the future.

    That would be nice.
