The only external antennas allowed are for satellite tv. They’re rather specific.

Our home is less than 4 years old and has a radiant barrier insulation inside the attic.

I’m exploring other stealth options too.

It seems to me that I have read about an ameteur lic supercedes a HOA, because radios can be emergency communications

^^^^^ For VHF / UHF I use a mobile dual band antenna mag mount stuck on top of back yard patio cover metal roof which allows a very good coverage area to a lot of repeaters. ................there are many steath design antenna that have been used for many years. Old school metal bed frames /w/ metal mattress springs using an tuner to get a antenna match. ... using the metal flashing around roof edge. Loading up chain link fences...top strands of barbed wire fences... Single wires stretched thru trees Once I used a metal rain gutter on a two story apartment blg (inverted L configuration) to work all over the states and Europe / Middle East / Asia / South Pacific / etc. .. Even made contact with KC4AAA ( South Pole, Antiartica) using about75watts power output. Once with the raingutter antenna as well out of the mobile setup. Also worked HF Mobile with a full blown full sized " Texas Bugcatcher" mounter center front bumper on a '94 Jeep Cherokee all over the world again using less than 100 watts output power. .....Several times had a coax feed line from inside of our apartment or house using the mobile antenna that was mounted on the jeep and connected to the radio in the house....... Where there is a will there is a way to acomplish it. ......................................................de KL7JIU aka .....drill sgt.

I don’t think it applies to HOA’s, but myself and a few of the guys on the BOD of the club I’m in will go over it and formulate a plan.

Worst case scenario, I’ll get a portable antenna and place it outside when it’s time to jump on HF or I’ll put something in the portion of my attic that doesn’t have the radiant barrier.

I’m waiting for my $25 amazon power supply to come in today so I can begin getting this thing set up.

Danny do you think we can get Keith to put up a antenna up now? LOL

He has made improvements, I can hear him now on 835; I'll even donate an aluminum jpole (arrow antenna) that I built; Still have enough material to make a couple more...They look like the one Jake showed that lady at the meeting

Should be here on Tuesday. I will be installing the antenna tomorrow. I built a 2m dipole from instructions on YouTube. Tested it with my UV-5R and got a SWR of 1.2.

Just happened to come across this post, and ironically we Laser Engraved one of our thick black aluminum business cards today for a customer with a Amateur Radio License. He wanted a wallet sized version of his license. We made an exact duplicate, front and back, of the FCC Registration Number card, even had the FCC logo on the back next to the signature bar.

Really cool and we had not done one before.
