There has to be some sort of contempt here. Didn't the decision mandate that Heller be given a permit for his gun?

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- District residents can start registering their guns today. But at least one very high profile application was already rejected.

Dick Heller is the man who brought the lawsuit against the District's 32-year-old ban on handguns. He was among the first in line Thursday morning to apply for a handgun permit.

But when he tried to register his semi-automatic weapon, he says he was rejected. He says his gun has seven bullet clip. Heller says the City Council legislation allows weapons with fewer than eleven bullets in the clip. A spokesman for the DC Police says the gun was a bottom-loading weapon, and according to their interpretation, all bottom-loading guns are outlawed because they are grouped with machine guns.

Besides obtaining paperwork to buy new handguns, residents also can register firearms they've had illegally under a 180-day amnesty period.

Though residents will be allowed to begin applying for handgun permits, city officials have said the entire process could take weeks or months.

So I could regiser a sten for CCW?!?

Nevermind, they covered that (designed to be used with a single hand). But I didn't see that it couldn't be bottom loading. As a matter of fact, it doesn't give much info at all.

This is pretty interesting as well. Seems Heller is trying to run for the House seat as a Libertarian.

Heller Shows Up for Gun Registration With Petitions - D.C. Wire -

Gun registration started at police headquarters at 7 a.m. this morning, but it was not the brisk turnout that authorities had anticipated, Post staff writer Paul Duggan reports. Duggan said there were a few people who trickled in to make inquiries, but the only person to show with immediate intent about registering a gun was the plaintiff in the Supreme Court case, security guard Dick Anthony Heller, who was accompanied by his lawyer.

Heller, Duggan reports, was at the doors at 6:30 this morning. He did not bring his weapon with him as D.C. regulations require, however. He did raise his frustrations with the District's continued ban on semiautomatic weapons. It's that issue that city officials and gun rights advocates both say is likely to land the city back in court at some point.

But we're burying the real news here. It seems that Heller may not have brought his gun with him to register, but he was armed with a load of candidate petitions, Duggan said.

Seems that Heller is planning to run for the House seat currently held by Eleanor Holmes Norton. Heller is seeking signatures to be on the ballot as a libertarian candidate.

A man identifiying himself as J. Bradley Jansen, who said he was Heller's campaign manager, said Heller must get 3,000 signatures and has until the end of August to collect them.

Semi-Auto Pistols are still banned, Revolvers, Break-Open types like Derringers...etc, are not banned.

But you can bet that they are messing with him like they are Savage.

    Good luck to Mr. Heller.

That guy is a menace. Trying to register a Machine Gun for home Defence? He should be jailed. Only the Police and Politicians of DC should be authorized to have deadly machine guns for personal protection.

Eight Rounds of Bullet thingys in a Clip! What kind of person wants to shoot Eight People at once anyway? Is that paranoid or what? The founding Guys wanted only Single shot musket looking guns anyway.

OMG its a Machine and a Gun therefore IT IS A MachineGun!! Can't you people see that?

The gun doesn't load from the bottom it loads from the top. The top round is load into the chamber not the bottom round.
