    Hey Guys,
I want to get a scope/optic for hunting hogs at night, maybe coyotes later on but just piggies for now. Going to be mounted on my AK primarily but might also mount it to other firearms as well, would like it to be usable up to 200 yards. I really don't want to spend a lot of money, trying to spend under a grand for the whole setup. Like I said it would be recreational hog hunting equipment, not for defense or anything like that, so it doesn't have to be "bet my life quality" but somewhat reliable would be good. I was looking at some of the ATN X-Sight and Opmod options on optics planet, but I saw some other comments and videos about the Sightmark Wraith, apparently people like it, I am a little hesitant because of how cheap it is, but I guess it might be okay. Do any of you have any experience or recommendations? Should I get an ATN model or Wraith or other?

Oh no I don't know that side site, I'm gonna have to check it out, I've ordered a decent amount from optics planet over the years... thanks for the info, seems to me like the ATN might be higher quality, they have a 3-9, a 3-14, and a 5-15, I'm not sure which would be best for me, really looking to shoot inside 100yds, might stretch it to 200, but not really comfortable hunting past that. Also not sure what Opmod means, will continue research, thanks for the help man.

I have heard good things about the Xsight. One of the guys on 68fourms is doing a long-term running evaluation post. He has had it for a bit can't remember how long but he seems to like it.

Hey do you guys know if the THOR thermal models are alot better for hunting than the cheaper ATN Models? Like I was looking at the X-Site and others between 5-$800, but they have these Thor Thermal models on Dvor for a little over a grand, are those going to be a lot better or is that different?

I have an X-sight Pro, and really like it. With a good IR light I can easily see out to 300 yrds with it. The resolution is great, plus you can use it day or night. Way more features than I can possibly use. Only drawback is that since it is digital, there is a small lag when moving that some people find annoying. I don't even hardly notice it unless I move the scope quickly. For the price it's a really good value. By the way, the IR light that comes with it is actually pretty good, but will show a red dot to the human eye at night if looking directly at it. If you get another with a different wavelength, it's virtually undetectable On this type of scope, the IR light will make all the difference in the world.
    Best of luck!

So what was the end result? I was going to post a new thread about exactly this. I'm in the same budget boat and have been looking at the same optics. Just built an AR as coyote gun and I've got less money left over than planned
