Over the years I’ve seen a variety of leather SOB small of back holsters, usually Galco, and have considered picking one up for when I’m wearing a jacket (almost exclusively IWB). Does anyone have actual experience using one of these, and if so, benefits and drawbacks?

I did for about 4 or 5 months. Super comfortable but there are a number of downsides which is why I eventually went back to strong side.
It slows draw time down significantly and is a very visually loud draw stroke should the need arise for a surreptitious draw. If you follow Active Self Protection on YT, they actually posted a video on exactly that yesterday. From a seated position it also difficult to get the gun out with speed. There's also significant risk of spinal injury should you fall or go to the ground which is the biggest detractor for most folks. The biggest one for me, and something I was always worried about, was printing and having someone behind me grab my gun. It's very difficult to fight for retention from that position. That's the one that nagged at me enough to switch back.
I know it was long winded, but I hope it helps

I have used in the past for backup gun only carry, it changes the priority hierarchy in a good way, but comes with the carry problems mentioned above, and also riding in a vehicle is quite uncomfortable if longer than short trips.
