I need to strip and refinish the stocks on my 870. The fore end is checkered so I can't just sand. Anybody have any luck with chemical strippers?

I like Strip-X. It's like a jel and will cling to the stock. As long as it's wet it is working. Let it sit on your stock for about 10 min. the wash it off with a bruch and water.
If the stock has dents, use a steam iron and a wet cloth to steam out the dents. Let the stock dry for a day or two.
Then do a light sanding and your ready for your new finish.
What do you want it to look like when your done?
