Father-in-law Caught the 2 biggest drum fish. We put them both back.

In addition to the fish pictured and the 2 huge drum we threw back, we threw back about 8 reds that were all .5-2" under length and lost several others that felt like monsters. :hs:

Nice catch! Why did you put back the drum?

I probably won't have time this year, but Myrtle Grove is the place to go for the first freeze... We limited out last time in about 3 hours.

We put back both of the big ones. He said when they get too big they aren't good eatin' and we were getting enough bites that we knew we wouldn't miss then. He had fun fighting them both anyway.

when those black drum get really big, they get parasites (worms).
on a side note, those berkley GULP shrimp are the bomb.

That's what he said (about the black drum).

Unfortunately I only tried the gulp shrimp once and we weren't getting bites on fresh so I can't attest to it.

I'll give it a better go next time. Maybe hang a fresh and a gulp off the same line and see which gets the most hits.

I've never had much luck w/ shrimp, unless I put it on a lure (deadly dudley, redfish lures, etc) for scent. I usually did better w/ minnows.

Of course I never tried GULP shrimp...
