So a buddy of mine knew my birthday was coming up and knew I was looking for Crawfish equipment and he ended up buying me a dual jet burner and 120 qt pot :bigok: I love my friends.

So now I need the remaining equipment. I'm struggling to find where I can get this hamper/tub combo. Can anyone assist?

You don't throw andouille in your boil?

Baby bellas are great for boils.

Make sure you keep those mudbugs cool (and alive) before the boil.

What kind of table are you working with? Just go pick up a cheap plastic table, similar to that of a beer pong table.

If you intend on hosting boils frequently in the future, I'd recommend picking up one of these. So awesome.

I might after the fact, don't like to taint the flavor of the crawfish though :) I have a couple folding tables, I just don't like them to get full of crap so I throw cheap things on them to protect them.

Tractor Supply/Goodwood Hardware/Fishing Supply/Restaurant Supply Didn't that pot come with a strainer/basket inside? Go get a galvanized wash tub and use the basket.

I add smoked sausage an brussel sprouts as additional edibles and celery and bay leaves for seasoning. We also use the cheap plastic party table covers that cost about $1 at walmart.

I don't add Sausage to my Boil until AFTER I yank the Crawfish.
Too much fatty oil released from the sausage before hand for my taste.

Now if you REALLY want something nice.
Drop some Boudin in that boil for a couple minutes......poooooooh! das some good trash yea boy!

That tub/basket looks like some Laundry Baskets and Sand Toy buckets mixed.
From Wal-Mart to Target to Fred's or Dollar Store. May be a seasonal thing?

Go to lowes and get 2 buckets (similar to pink one in your pic) and drill holes in one of them. They come with rope handles also

We still purge ours with salt, before boiling them. The salt makes them $hit (not "throw up mud", as some suggest). Makes for a cleaner boil, IMHO- regardless of what LSU's "Crawfish Wizards" have to say, on the matter. :D

This is false and make the crawfish way too salty at best and kills them before the boil at worst. Just wash them with clean water several times. Please do not offer this advice to new cookers.

But yea my pals at Bayou Lacassine Farms purge theirs in fresh water for 24 hours before selling them.

They are CLEAN after that. Straight into the POT, no washing needed.

Those are some good pals to have, HM. :dogkeke:

Most of ours come from the spillway- or we catch them at the camp. But my personal favorite is river crawfish. The big, knarly bastards with tails the size of your thumb. We're prolly gonna go after some this weekend. :D

I remembered seeing this a while back on another forum....I LOL'd after reading it- again. :dogkeke:

I also use salt sometimes but I find if you leave them in the salt water too long they start to die, but I always clean them off in an ice chest until the water comes out clear. I know a fella (who's on this site) that doesn't clean them at all, straight out of the sack and into the pot!! Last time we boiled at his house he boiled two turtles!! LMAO!! You know who you are!!

The basket thing is called a champagne. Any of the local fishing stores she have them or tell you where to get them.
