I looked in the archives and could not find the answer. What's the law and the policy at Harah's? Metal detectors present? We're going to a show Saturday evening, nothing else. No drinking or gambling. I have a chain and padlock, and a way to secure it in the car if I have to leave it.

    Thanks!

§95.5. Possession of firearm on premises of alcoholic beverage outlet

    A. No person shall intentionally possess a firearm while on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet.

    B. "Alcoholic beverage outlet" as used herein means any commercial establishment in which alcoholic beverages of either high or low alcoholic content are sold in individual servings for consumption on the premises, whether or not such sales are a primary or incidental purpose of the business of the establishment.

    C. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to the owner or lessee of an alcoholic beverage outlet, or to an employee of such owner or lessee, or to a law enforcement officer or other person vested with law enforcement authority acting in the performance of his official duties.

    D. Whoever violates the provisions of this Section shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.

    Acts 1985, No. 765, §1.

    Plus Harrah's is a Casino.
I've never heard of a Casino that didn't have a No Firearms Policy anyway.
Therefore falling under the Private Property laws.

There are no metal detectors. Unless you go into a facility that makes you empty your pockets and pass through one, like a courthouse or other government-style secured building, you CAN carry. HOWEVER, concealed carry is just that... CONCEALED. No one is supposed to know you're carrying... or suspect you're carrying. It's up to you as a CCW permit holder to make sure that doesn't happen.

Remember, a facility doesn't need a giant sign on their front window that says "NO WEAPONS"... it could be a sign the size of a matchbook in the corner of a wall down by the floor that you wouldn't see unless someone pointed at it (It does have to be in a general area though... it can't be in a broom closet or somewhere that you would never see it). So technically ANY establishment that you enter COULD have a no weapons policy and you wouldn't know unless you ask... which, in and of itself, would raise suspicion as to your intent to carry.

I would say if they're not searching, wanding, or making you pull things from your pockets like DHS at the airport... carry... but that's your decision, and with it you take the responsibility.

Also, as HITMAN mentioned above... with one addition... working in the bar business, PRIVATE PROPERTY OR NOT... it depends on if Harrah's liquor license extends past it's actual "BAR AREAS". Since drinks are literally served at every slot machine, table, etc... I would assume it does, and therefore, it would be ILLEGAL for you to carry inside as it would be in any bar. Which also covers "BAR AREAS" in restaurants... for instance, if you are at Applebee's... and seated at a table, you're good... but seated in the bar area... no good.

The ONLY people permitted to carry in an establishment that serves alcohol are ON DUTY LAW ENFORCEMENT during the performance of official duties. Body guards, private security, off duty officers, etc. are NOT (not including the owner or lessee).

I'm sure you can't bring one in, but if this is the definition of an "ABO", drinks are free in many casinos.

However; if there was ever a place you should have a gun other than a bank and a convenient store, it's in a casino. ;)

Call Harra's and ask them. The law is pretty clear. See Hitman's post.

I've carried every trip to Vegas, 3 times in 7 years. I realize we are talking different states, but the relevance is this: The Caesars security detail DID notice that I was carrying and I had a suit jacket on. I had it tailored while wearing my holster, and they still caught it. I was impressed. They didn't give me any grief, just let me know that they knew. Other than a firm "you know there's a safe in your room?" I never heard another word about it.

I post this because "concealed means concealed" is great n dandy. If they have signs posted, it may jeopardize your evening/weekend to test their policies. My recommendation is to stay the night there. This way you can drink as much as ya like and never have to worry about driving, and you avoid that walk to your vehicle with your winnings in your pocket.

edit: as posted above, hell just call and ask.

They are trying waaayyyy too hard!

    You think? :dogkeke:

On a serious note, a Casino is basically a giant bar with gambling. :dogkeke: I'm not sure how this wouldn't be a problem.

I run a bar downtown... Just went through the states security class... No one except on duty officers can carry in a bar. Restaurants are different... As I said above... You can carry in a restaurant, HOWEVER, if they have a specific area with a bar, you can't carry in that area.

Like I mentioned above... Applebee's as an example. They have hi top tables in an area around the bar in the center of the restaurant. Minors can sit at the hi tops, but not at the bar. You can use that as your boundary. You can not carry in the "bar area".

WEAPONS/FIREARMS: Provides relative to the possession of firearms by concealed handgun permit holders and law enforcement officers in certain alcoholic beverage establishments.

"Certain" establishments. NOT in bars. Then again, BARcadia is a restaurant... Lucy's is a restaurant... They are not operating under a bar license like say Vic's is. Even all new restaurants opening... Like ooh la la... A pizza joint with 300 beers on tap... Not a bar... A restaurant.

    They're actually breaking the law.

Just remember too... Any establishment can make their own call and ask you to leave as well no matter what the house bill says.
