haven't there been 2 other threads saying signs that say "no firearms allowed" carry no weight in Louisiana?
are faced with a uniformed officer at the door asking if they are armed. So now they must state they are armed due to chp law.
Do we have to answer the officer? Is it legal for the officer to ask me that question if I'm not suspected of a crime?
I'm not trying to be a dick, i'm genuinely curious.

Do you have a CHP? If so, where did you take your class and have you ever actually taken the time to read the laws?
"The permit shall be retained by the permittee who shall immediately produce it upon the request of any law enforcement officer. Anyone who fails to do so shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars. Additionally, when any peace officer approaches a permittee in an official manner or with an identified purpose, the permittee shall:
Notify the officer that he has a weapon on his person;
Submit to a pat down;
Allow the officer to temporarily disarm him."
ok, so even if I am not suspected of having committed a crime, the police can just come up to me and ask if I they have a weapon?

Yep. And if you have a concealed permit you better tell them.

IN AN OFFICIAL MANNER. Not just when a cop asks how your day is going or if that's a Prada bag or something. It doesn't change the situation at hand, I just felt like being a stickler and making the distinction. Just so you don't feel like you have to immediately go "SIR I HAVE A GUN" when one gives you an up-nod and a "How's it goin" in line at the local Community Coffee shack.Law states that you must disclose you are carrying when approached by an officer.
Gonna be a dick here and say that in this instance you are not being approached by the officer, you are approaching the officer. Same words different meaning.
Are you answering in the context of me walking into a gun show? Or are you answering the general context of me being anywhere else in the public?
When I go to gun shows, I don't approach the officers, I walk up to the ticket counter to get in the show.

I have a lockbox in my truck for events like this, im getting a bolt down one soon too, currently its attached the the seat with very thick cable...It's really a miracle more vehicles aren't broken into in the Gun Show parking lots.
I bet many guns get "left in the truck"
That is one of the few times I leave it at home
