    Mr. Jstokes1,
I think carrying an AR15 on one's back into a place of business would unnerve most people. They would be scared. A handgun is generaly
thought of a defensive weapon and a rifle says I am here to take of business. If police decide to eat at a fast food joint after making arrests
(with an ar15 ) they will put the rifles in the trunk first. I think carrying an ar15 as you suggested could hurt gun rights. I don't think you
want to scare people. If an anti gun politician hears about customers and employees being scared at a starbucks, he may try to pass a no
open carry law. I never open carry. If I wanted to make a statement by open carrying, I would have a pistol in a nice leather holster with a
nice leather gun belt and a t shirt that read MY OTHER GUN IS AN AR15.

I respect your opinion and I see your point sir. Thank you for a well thought out response without bad-mouthing. (unlike others here)

Ah c'mon now. Did you not even read my book four or five pages back?

Stokes, serious question for you. If I walked past your house at 6:00 at night (sun still out) with an AR-15, what, if anything, would you do? Second question - you are shopping at your favorite store at the mall. I walk in with an AR-15. What do you do? What is the first thought that goes through your head?

Next scenario. Same two questions from above, yet I am wearing a black ski-mask OR a hooded sweatshirt and a nice black pair of glasses. What are your thoughts and actions in each scenario? I am being completely serious and expect a serious answer, if any, from you.

I am going somewhere with this.

    Thanks.

If it was slung across your back in a non engaging way in all of those situations, then nothing. Might even go admire your rifle a little. Things like that don't scare me sir. I would probably go tell you to carry on after a nice conversation. Why should I be scared of someone doing for the most part, nothing? Just minding their business not impeding on anyone's rights, who am I to tell him what he can or can't do, as long as he is not impeding on the rights of others? But I'm sure you expected this answer, didn't you? So what's the catch?

So you are saying that if you see a guy with a ski-mask walking through the mall with an AR slung over his back in a non-engaging way, you wouldn't be concerned even a little? If so, you are a lost cause. Before people do bad things with guns, the gun is in a non-engaging state of being. It is not on their person, not loaded, or in any other imaginable "non-engaging" condition. How long does it take for a gun to go from being in a non-engaging position to being ready to fire? Seconds?

I would like to say that your answer is what I expected, but it is not. I was expecting something logical. A guy walking through the mall with a gun and a ski mask is up to no good. I really hope that you are just playing devil's advocate here to get a rise out of people on this board. Nevertheless, if I were to see you, or anyone walking through a public place with an AR, I would call the cops. It is not normal behavior and there is no practical purpose for it. I digress. There is no need for me to try to explain logic to you, as it seems you will overlook and ignore it.

If I would have agreed about the ski mask being over top, then you would have used this against me in the augment about open carrying an ar. You would have said " Well, wearing ski mask and opening carrying an ar in public isn't against the law, so why are you against it?" It was a setup question, and you know it :) good try though.

I agree with this. In light of recent events, accidentally showing a CC firearm in a store doesn't bother me (let's be honest, it's happened to everyone) but if I was driving down the street and saw a guy walking with an AR, you bet your bottom I'm calling 911 and watching you from a distance.

We live in a very unpredictable world and unless you have been blessed with the ability to read people's minds, you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what that person's intentions are with that firearm.

And don't keep coming up with excuses to fire up people and cause additional arguing. It's ridiculous that you keep arguing about it and its old and annoying.

People continue to argue, so I indulge. It's my right you know :D And so you judge accordingly to your own fears? Yes, this world is unpredictable, someone walking down the street with a bat could be going play some ball, or bash someone's head in, but because our society, we assume that he is playing ball, not the other option. As a society, we have labeled a man walking with a rifle is up to no good, but he may actually just be walking with a rifle.

Freedom of speech is there, even if you don't have anything intelligent to say.

What was not intelligent about my statement? The fact that premature labeling is a direct reflection of our inaction about open carrying? How fear has clouded our judgement? Obviously, walking into a mall with a rifle and a ski mask is not a smart idea on a side note, even though it is legal.

Not an advocate of open carry, but will reconsider this Saturday.

When's the last time you saw a man with a rifle slung on his back walking down the street in the United States?

DISCLAIMER: YouTube, Redditt, Internet, Active Duty Military, etc DOES NOT COUNT.

Well, I've gone and laughed at a whole bunch of everything. Thank y'all for this thread and the moron labias, reverse cowgirls, Verms sexual encounters, mike Tyson looking at the camera hungrily, and God knows what else. Bravo, bravo... BRAVO.

And there you go. This is the point we are trying to get across. Even though it is a right, sometimes it isn't smart.
