If it's like when I worked at Best Buy, employee discount is like 5% over cost. That should tell you how much of a ripoff Monster cables are.

Exactly. And not just Monster. I seem to remember the 6' printer cables retailing for ~$35, and costing employees less than $3. Total ripoff.

It made me sad when I could sell a computer at a $150 loss and make the company a few hundred dollars' profit after we added in accessories and service ($150 to uninstall freeware and set up antivirus :eek3:)

The price of the cables is based on their cost for employees, but is marked up for customers. $50 at employee prices would've been a couple thousand at retail.

If an employee is arrested for internal theft, the value would be the regular (current) price of the stolen item on the sales floor.

But hey, what do I know?

He is saying he bought them at that price($50), and they they retailed for a couple grand. If he paid for them, I doubt it was theft.
