Truth is it will come down to your preference. Some guys swear by Fords. Some guys swear by Chevy. Jim's has a large selection of semi-customs in stock. See what feels good to you.

Tell you what, email Tressa at WC from the link I posted above, and ask about customer service.

Sorry folks, I am a WC fanboy. :)

2 days ago you were looking to spend $600/$800. Why the big change ?

At 25 yards the $600 pistol will shoot a 2" group and the $2,600 pistol will shoot a 1" group. I suppose the Op. wants the pistol that shoots the smallest group.

That's true. Want to get 1 in each category. My Christmas and birthday present from wife lol. Getting suggestions on both as to most guys on bayou shooter either have these guns or have shot them. I rather go to the horses mouth to get the facts.

Special Forces naked slide. And yes James the groups are tight. It is a better pistol than I am a shooter.

Was on their site last night and I really like the special forces. Plus I can upgrade with the things I want at a good price also. 3 things I would like to add to it. Flush cut and crown barrel. Bevel cut the frame for slide stop and maybe a different finish and grips.

I have heard of only one person (so far) having any problem with a NH and they did not even ask who bought it originally or when - just fixed it and shipped it back n/c. You can also order them with the features you want.
The Guncrafter Ind I have (the FRAG) is also worth looking into, IMO.
Even though I like high end 45's, the Les Bauer, STI and Dan Wesson seem like more practical choices as you can prolly get a few CASES of ammo with the savings.

In that price range, take a look at volkmann precision, he's a former ed brown Smith that went out on his own. True custom, awesome quality and takes great care of his customers. Also having met the Nighthawk and les beer guys and handled a few of theirs I'd take the Nighthawk. I find les baer goes overkill on the super tightness. The Nighthawk crew actually sent a few guys down here after katrina to help rebuild hard to beat that character.

Been doing the research and for the money with upgraded options Ed brown sounds pretty good. The Wilson and nighthawk are great also but in the end all shoot about the same its gonna come down to fit and finish and customer service. Gonna take a ride to jims guns I think they have all 3 brands there. And I know Rick knows his 1911s there. Leaning towards Ed special forces trick out to my specs. Wilson cqb tricked out. Nighthawk falcon or recon already has options I want done to it which is flush cut and deep crown barrel and slide stop frame bevel.

Sent email to Dan Wesson about his top of the line valor. Seeing if they could add options I want to it. Heard good things about his stuff also and 1000 bucks cheaper. Any body shoot his stuff.

In that price range Wilson, Les Baer and Ed Brown are often recommended and as mentioned above for a little more Nighthawk is often recommended.
The true custom 1911's cost more $$$$$.

This. I might would also look at one of the Springfield Armory Custom Shop pistols too.
