my take so far is that you haven't given enough info... did the security guard shoot at the driver of the suv? I assume that is what happened but is there a link to an actual news story?

    OK, I see it now...

Club Raggs guard booked in shooting

A 22-year-old security guard at Club Raggs nightclub, 2605 Plank Road, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting two men who were trying to flee a hit and run outside the club Oct. 10, said a Baton Rouge police spokesman.

The driver of the vehicle had crashed into multiple cars about 1:13 a.m. and continued driving away from the club, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman.

The security guard, Robert McGriff, allegedly stepped in front of the car and motioned for the driver to stop, McKneely said.

The driver continued driving toward McGriff, who jumped out of the way before firing at the car, McKneely said.

The driver and a passenger were each shot, McKneely said. Each suffered non life-threatening injuries, he said.

Police say at the point that McGriff began shooting, no one had been seriously injured and the driver of the car had only committed damage to property.

McKneely said McGriff should have stayed out of the path of the car and gathered information before calling the police.

McGriff was booked into Parish Prison on one count of attempted first-degree murder.

Wait. If this was a cop who was in front of a 3 thousand pounds deadly weapon, a shooting would be justified. but since he is a guard, he is booked?

A cop has a duty to uphold the law and protect the safety of the general public. The security guard has neither.

Wrong a security guard on his or her post has the right to protect inoccent bystanders if they are put in danger by someone else's actions. Like this guard.

A security guard actually HIT his intended target??? Hell, that's news-worthy in and of itself.

    .

Reading the statistics of most LEO involved shootings I was equally impressed that he hit both of them driving away. :eek3:

Not cracking on Guards, but most LEO shootings similar to this unload at vehicles with little to "0" results besides wasting ammo.

He stepped in front of the car, stepped out of it's way and then shot. If he was out of the path of the vehicle, he was no longer in danger. Bad shoot.

Was he an official security guard?

What's his job while on post? Protecting people or property, the owner or all of the above?

Stepping in front of a moving vehicle is putting yourself (IN HARMS WAY) IMHO. I bet that he had his GUN DRAWN when he stepped into the path of a moving vehicle. Probably rehearsed that BS in his head dozens of times.

Kind of like bringing a gun to a drug dealers house and shooting the dealer in his home. :eek3: ...wait that came out bad..... :p
