There is no comparison . Look at Katrina or other natural disasters . There is no limit to what people are capable of when they are desperate . Be prepared , bug in .

what's your opinion, if people act like this for items on sale, how bad will they act if the country has a real SHTF crisis happen? Food, gas, power outage? Would you even venture out?

People will quickly break down into predators and prey, and easy prey/strong prey and weak predators/strong predators.

Forget Black Friday, look at Katrina.

Lots of especialy inner city people ( useing that loosly ) are already accustom to taking what they want w/o fear of the legal system ( again loose use of words, system )

When the law is stretched tight, as they would be , these predators will go wild. The really shitty part to me is that if the good citizen who is prepared to survive shoots predators the GG stands a chance of loseing his means of protection and maybe his freedom.

To carry that another step, if the HO shoots a BG and is taken into custody for only one night, what do you think the predators will do with his stuff and or his family. I'm afraid that in this kind of situation once again the GG is at a real disadvantage.

We can only hope that the OathKeepers are very widespread.

Many good pointed made, including the scary women in the blue shirt showing butt crack :zombie: But seriously, this is not the america I grew up in. The low class scum bag population is growning. I spoke with a lady who staying for hours in line at the Best Buy, only to have the (I can't quote her) blanks and blanks cut in front as the store opened. These freaking big chains need to stop this Bull Sh*t.

Exactly like others said, "Look at Katrina".

I was in New Orleans through Katrina and 2 weeks after. The people who stayed in their homes and acted lawfully during that time would be in my reckoning about 10% of the total population. Most were out in the streets looting, and every single person had some sort of weapon in their hand - from a simple 2x4 to AKs - ALL had a weapon. Those same 90% made NO preparations to survive, and were out of food and water before the storm had even fully subsided.

In a true SHTF scenario, most people become sub-human. They will do or take what ever they can get away with. Very, very few people have a true consciousness of right and wrong. I lost a lot of faith in humanity during that period, but feel I learned much about human nature.

The SHTF has already started earlier this year and is getting more and more volatile and anytime now it will explode, especially when Israel attacks Iran and the Nukes start flying.

I think this is the major problem. No-matter who you are, unless you are a thug, you will ask yourself: "Do I need to shoot this person/do they pose a threat?" Whether that question is in the form of "Are they armed" or "how are they acting", etc.

Some POS is just going to look at you, see that you have something they want--or might, and shoot you. They don't give a ****.

Action beats reaction, and the "reason" circuit has been removed from these guys. I don't care how long you were in the military/an officer/etc. It's a distinct disadvantage held by people who aren't trash.

See what I mean? You are already thinkin "Wait...what happens if I shoot this guy even though I NEED TO! shoot him?" That is the kind of thinking that they DON'T have.

We can only hope that the OathKeepers are very widespread.
Who are "Oathkeepers"? I'm sorry, I don't know the term. If it's military or police, I don't know about that after seeing what they did to citizens in Katrina. Disarmed 'em real nice for the baddies.

Red. Yeah, that waffle-iron action. She could do without a few waffles.

When the SHTF the ideal place to be is as far away from any city as possible. If you don't have enough warning to evacuate with all your essentials and valuables then I would bug-in till it was safe to relocate but the main driving factor to me is to put as much distance between myself and the urban element as possible. I didn't stay for Katrina but I've heard enough stories from friends who did to know that it is not something I would want to go through if I had a choice. Especially long-term. I think Martial law would be declared immediately and they would use that as a tool to disarm the honest-law abiding people rendering them defenseless... not a situation I would want to be in.

The big difference in my opinion (everybody has one) is a natural disaster such as Katrina there was time to leave to some extent. (I know storms take unexpected turns sometimes, but we all should during storm season be prepared). In a SHTF event it may happen at 2:00 am. The middle east is a hours CST ahead of us, so 2:00 am here is 10:00 there. My point is to be ready at any hour to evacuate urban area.

Have all documents in a place that you can carry, me i started carrying all important id on person. My crew and I work in secured facilities most of the time so no outside firearms, ammunition or cell phones allowed! No exceptions! So we leave our POV's parked within a couple of miles of the facility and all ride through security together in one vehicle, one guy has a suburban can carry the whole crew we use same vehicle everyday. (everybody that works there has a car pool situation. For a few different reasons, but mainly you can get access to your property without having to travel back to your home. It lets you get to your cell phone without having to drive home.

This has become second nature for a while, you don't do things until you get them right, you do them until you can't get them wrong! Second nature!

Society melt down has been going sour for several years even before Katrina in the U.S. The middle east has already melted down from lack of law and order . Wall street occupiers will be out in force come spring crying social justice.

I agree jms, things have been bad for a while. Even before 9/11. The dollar and our whole economy is propped up by tooth picks. We have become a society of consumers and we manufacture very few things.
