All guns must be checked by the LEOs at the entrance and ziptied. No ammo with the gun.
    So No.
No loose ammo. No alcoholic beverages in show. All guns, including personal guns, must be unloaded while in building. Tie downs required on all guns. All exhibitors must be present during all show hours. Please do not make reservations if you cannot stay until the show closes. No checks accepted at show and money orders only 2 weeks prior to show. Thank You.
    PS....
I didn't know there was a gun show this weekend in Kenner. It's not on the list. http://www.gunshows-usa.com/louisania.htm

Your avatar would say no, but here is an interesting story nonetheless. A long time back, a guy (me), walks towards a gun show at Lamar Dixon (for the first time in my life), <Yeah, that's right! First time! I never gave a s**t about these types of shows before for it to be my second time!; Sorry!

So, anyway; I approach the entrance and the sign reads, "Stop! All firearms must be unloaded and checked before entering!" So I look around to unload my baby (Sig P229), and there are people EVERYWHERE gathered around the entrance. Smoking cigarettes, bullshitting about the weather, dreaming about the guns they probably won't evetually buy, and crap like that; and I look around and say where am I going to safely unload the chamber of my gun here? So I go through the door and tell the policeman on duty, that I need to unload my baby and he looks at me like I am retarded?!? He says, to me, "Didn't you read the sign?" I said politely, "Yes sir I did, that is why I am asking?" And he then proceeds to tell me, "unload the weapon and hand it to me!" So I do, and then he tells me, "Do you know how unsafe that was?" And I said, "Sir, what was I suposed to do?" He said, "Unload at your vehicle!"

I looked at him, took his abuse, and said to myself, sheeshh!

Moral of story: For those of you that have been to those gun shows at Lamar Dixon, you know that the parking lot is full of people carrying weapons, lurking, or whatever. I will not! Ever! Disarm or stand down on awareness of circumstance, or anything else while I am in almost ANY parking lot!

But, expect to be looked down upon when you try to unload while still in protection mode at Lamar.

    Does that help? :dunno:

I am going to the Slidell gun show today only because I am looking for some reloading stuff, ammo cans, and magazines. Because of their "unload and ziptie" policy, I haven't gone in a while. Well, that and the absurd prices.

That policy should only apply to guns that you are selling, not to a carry gun that will never be seen.

    THIS x2

I strongly believe they SHOULD have a sand box at the entrance for this specific purpose if they wanted us legal Conceal Carry Holders to make our weapons cold, it would be a safer thing to do than to have people with ND's inside their vehicles because they are missing out on the "sales"

100% agree. An army style weapon clearing station (55 gal drum with a hole for the muzzle for those that haven't seen one) would be really nice. I wonder if we asked them to provide one?

Im sure it has been brought up to their attention a few times by responsible owners but the average joe doesnt really care about that so why bother ???

MAYBE we should press on it as an organization of responsible owners and see if anything chages, but the excuse will be we have been doing this for x amount of years like this bla bla bla bla bla bla

Sorry to disappoint. You can wag your finger at me for it at the LSA meeting tommorrow. I cut and pasted the rules from the website. I figured that would be enough.

It is not illegal to carry at gunshows. But every gun show I have been to has a sign up saying NO GUNS, which makes it illegal to carry at THAT gunshow.

I unload my carry gun in the car, go inside with both mags on my person, let the police officer zip tie the gun and put it back in my IWB holster concealed.

Yale's post of the rules said "All guns must be unloaded". That is much different from "no guns" which would be a silly rule for a gun show by the way. :dunno: So if you have a loaded gun inside the gun show is it a violation of state law or only a disregard of a show rule ?

I'm sorry, brain fart. I was referring to the sign that says they must be unloaded.

Your question though is interesting. I would think having it loaded would be only breaking their rule and get you tossed out.
Property owners (or someone renting/leasing) saying NO GUNS carries the weight of law in Louisiana.

But they can't have signs up saying NO GREEN GUNS or NO GUNS THAT HOLD MORE THAN 10 BULLETS, it is all or nothing.
I honestly can't see how they could make having the gun loaded illegal, like say if you had an ankle piece that you did not disclose.

Someone that actually knows can chime in on that, then someone else can argue with them because I don't think anyone can answer that one.
