Ok heres my "70" Colt Ace. Yes i have shot it plenty.
Kinda a old friend, Back when i was a kid of 17 saved up my $ and dad got me this at the old F&B supplies on Clearview were the Winn Dixie is now. I wanted a 45acp giu but as a kid with little $$ and already having a Model 19 S&W I did not need another center fire gun eating up my ammo money
Still had an old beaver tail and trigger from late 70's 80's I had put on
Later on grabbed a new factory Colt Slide from the shot gun news paper along with a barrel ect So i could have 45acp.
So I guess i did it backwards of what guys do today. {IE} get a 22 set up for the 45 and I got a 45 for the 22
With the stock grips, and 45acp stuff on it
and a shot of my baby 1911 copy. an old Mustang 380 with some target grips
The Wilson, i never did anything to. The Desert Warrior, i changed the hideous peanut grips to a set of VZs and had a mag well and a different trigger installed. I changed the grips on the SS Ultra Carry to a set of VZs. The Para Ordinance has been a POS from the get go. I bought it new and it would never make it through a whole mag without malfunctioning. I took it back to where i bought it (Elliots) and thought they would send it to Para to get looked at, but i think they tried to fix it in house. It wasn't fixed. I tried here and there to get it worked on, but it still won't run. One of these days i may send it to get totally redone somewhere.....if i get back into 1911 and want to spend a bunch of money.
JRL - Bang for the buck S&W 1911's are hard to beat. Never mind it has an external extractor to confounf the 1911 purest. For the money it is moose meat.
The one I'm most proud of, delivered to Springfield Armory in either late May/early June of 1941. Found tucked away in a hidden desk drawer, still in original issued holster.
