I mailed it to Springfield Armory last Friday. I called them and they didn't seem surprised this happened at all. The guy over the phone acted like it was a pretty common repair

003.jpgI don't want to Brag but this is my 1911 purchasted in 1975 for 125 bucks , its a combat commander ,satin Nickel finish.. has worked with all ammo, never jammed, I wish Colt still made them...
My SA 1911A1's thumb lock safety has started getting stuck. I'm not sure what to call this, so bear with me, the bar that holds the spring thing just above the left grips is partially coming out from the gun so the spring pin goes beside and against the thumb safety switch instead of beneath.
Can this be fixed without sending it off to some gunsmith? (I was just walking my dog with my gun cocked and locked....glad I didn't have occasion to use it:eek3:) Just another reminder of why I prefer revolvers. Reliable.
