Inherited this pristine 1965 Remington 1100 12ga with 30" fixed full choke plain barrel. It's a 2 3/4" only model with unblemished blueing. No rust or corrosion anywhere and the furniture is near perfect. It's been shot but the round count is unknown. I called Remington to verify manufacturing date through the serial number and they confirmed that it was produced in mid 1965. The barrel has a date stamp of late 1964.

Does anybody here have a approximate value of this shotgun? I plan on using it, as my father would want me to. Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No idea on the value, but I would find a gunsmith and have him cut a couple of inches off the barrel and have screw in chokes installed. I have an early 70's left hand model and I had the barrel cut. Don't shoot steel shot through a full choke barrel.

I have one exactly like that except with a ventilated rib. It is a 1975 model. I bought it as a squirrel gun when I was in my early 20s. If I could see one, I could knock it down. I often wonder what to do with it now, as I rarely hunt anymore. Have considered selling, cutting it down for home defense (even though I have a 12ga pump), just giving it to my son, etc. Still undecided.

BLUE BOOK value in 100% condition is about $350. The lack of screw-in chokes and vent. rib subtract from the value. Ironically, you could probably part the gun out for about twice that amount. I have 5 1100s and consider them one of the finest semi-autos ever made. If you decide to cut the barrel, it may not cycle properly with light (less than 1 1/8 oz.) loads. I've found this to be the case w. the one I've cut to 20 in.
BTW, thanks for the good deal on the Maverick 88 I bought from you last month. It shoots great.

You're welcome....and thanks again for buying my Maverick.
I don't plan on cutting the barrel on this 1100. As a matter of fact I don't plan on altering anything to this gun. If anything I might buy another barrel for it. This is strictly going to be a skeet gun.

I inherited this Remington from my dad. Initially, I was going to put it in a shadow box and put on display in the living room....but, my dad wouldn't like that. He'd prefer that I use it.

Had one from from 1968 ,I was not aware of Remington making screw in chokes as I had different barres that I would swap for what I intended to hunt . Improved cylinder for deer slugs . I now have 3 Remington including unfired Sam Walton model . Sorry for running on but I have been partial to Remington for a long time .

Good luck with your dads shotgun $350 would never touch any of my guns .

That's a nice gun. I wouldn't cut the barrel either, but you'll want a different barrel to shoot skeet. No vent rib and a full choke might make for a frustrating venture.
